At this stage I have 3 remaining issues: 1) My 1 Number system is not working. I have configured my First ATA with my 2talk number 09xxxxxx and my secondary and tertiary phones (Android) with 09xxxxxxx-1 and 09xxxxxxx-2 etc, problem is that -1 and -2 won't register. I am waiting to hear back from 2talk as to why. 2) I need to configure my second ATA, this hasn't happened with no fault on 2talk, but the fact I have been too busy and I suspect until I get 1 Number working it's not going to be of any use. I have got a topic started in this subforum, where I am getting some help but it's not making any difference.

" What ATA are you using for your line? Yes I have enabled it and set the numbers in the boxes above. Yes the original issues appear to have been sorted (though still no communication from them about it). Voicemail magically started working. Mostly it's just getting this one number working. I'll perhaps get a screenshot and post it and see if anyone can assist.

One more thing, should I need to dial 09 for local numbers now and should our callerID be adding a 0 to the start of incoming numbers? Means I can't call people back any more using the automated CID System

On my phone the SIP account shows 09xxxxxxxx-1@2talk.co.nz - Failed to register account, transaction terminated please try again. Does this over and over.

I presume I use our ported number (Rather than the 028xxxxxxx), works without the -1

I have never used 1 number. I assigned every service a different number then just used the call hunting groups to make all the phones ring at once, which works just fine for me. So ATA[1] - 03 348 7235 (ported from Telecom --> TC --> ATA[2] - 03 929 xxxx (some random local number it gave me). Android - 028 blarBlarBlar I also set them up with extension numbers, but haven't used that yet. Even though the Android has an 028 number, it still just uses the same call minutes in your package, so it's not costing me any more. Promote New Zealand - Get yourself a .kiwi.nz domain name!!! Also instead of using one number, you could use another 028 number, change its outgoing CID to your 09 number, then set up a call hunt feature so that when someone calls your 09 number, it also rings your 028 number. Easy!

Did you know you can change the outgoing CID (caller display number) of a 2Talk local line to any verified NZ phone number. Even if that number is not hosted by 2Talk. For example, I sign up for a 2Talk Wellington 04 number 04-939xxxx, I also own a telecom porirua number 04-237xxxx Once I have verified my ownership of the 04-237xxxx number, I can change the 04-939xxxx CID to 04-237xxxx. Cool aye.

Thats something I hadnt thought about Don.. Using an 028 xx number .. as I hadnt realised it would just use my allocated account minutes for the outgoing call .. and as all calls coming in are diverts from another 2 talk number they dont cost .. I think you have just saved me $6 a month for an extra number I didnt need .. nice one .. and also I can see some other options .. I use a main number set up with diverts to other numbers via the . dial 1 if you want .. 2 for ... and so on .. I think I can put this on the system.. Thanks Don .. appreciate your input.

not really, this breaks a number of rules and is this sort of things is annoying, sending local calls from a network that doesn't own it is not right, what happens if someone dialed 111 from you VoIP device that just happened to be in a different location to the number that belongs to another Network provider .... Not so cool then. Yes I am a employee of WxC (My Profile) ... but I do have my own opinions as well

Not so cool then. Yes the 111 thing is a bit wrong. But this service could save down time when getting a number ported as one could just divert the telecom local number to 2talk and use a disguised as 'telecom' 2talk number until the porting process has finished. I think I would only use this service as a temporary thing, not permanent so the 111 issue should be limited. Still don't reckon it's a nice feature to have Mav?

The 111 thing is an issue in some ways - yes. 2Talk is not an emergency service provider. However, the 111 service do get a caller id which they can match up to address details in their own databases if needed. However, they also verify your location every single time you call them because it's a transient number just the same as a mobile number and their systems tell them that. Clearly, 111 don't make assumptions about caller location any more. Net - with respect to the 0x 123 4444 thing, it sounds like you don't have your dial plan set up correctly. (0[2-9][2-9]xxxxxx\|[2-9]xxxxxx\|021x.\|0508x.\|0800x.\|027x.\|028x.\|022x.\|029x.\|00x.\|1xx\|*x.) That is my dial plan. It is not the same as the 2Talk one I don't think or the one that Steve recommends. However it 'just works'. I can dial 348 7235 and my phones ring. I can dial 03 348 7235 and my phones ring. I can also dial using the CallerId call back feature on my phones and that does work. My personal experience with 2Talk started out extremely frustrating. It is a complex space and like many people I have the tendency to blame the provider for issues that were essentially my doing. Stick with it. In the long run it is worth the effort!!! :) I went from having a wife that was very concerned to having a wife that loves us having 2 phone lines so we can both be on the phone calling family. She loved that our phones never died in the earth quakes. She loves that close family can contact us even if we're in a mall and don't have to call our mobile numbers. I love the fact that I'm going to be sharing this technology with my friends shortly and everyone will be saving a few dollars which they can then spend on other services they'd like. In my case I thought we were going to save lots of dollars. We haven't. We ended up keeping the same budget but getting more services for our money. Services that have had real benefits. Promote New Zealand - Get yourself a .kiwi.nz domain name!!! Check out mine - i.am.a.can.do.kiwi.nz

Now I have moved I think it will be great. Part of the problem is that I am so busy, I would have happily paid a setup fee if I had known it was possible. When I am not busy and it's not my home phones with a sick and pregnant wife, it's not so bad. I'll give 2T another call, once I have it setup I'll assess and see. If I have ongoing issues with reliability or call quality I'll switch.

A bit wrong !!!, sorry but I have to totally disagree here cool maybe, hey we can all do this but the question is should we and this is a definite NO WAY!!!, this compromise the integrity of the network, this is callerid spoofing pure and simple , this is where all the crap numbers in these phone scams come from because companies don't think they should abide by the rules and allow any callerid tp pass there network , cool being able to do this not really I see it more as irresponsible, I value the integrity of the network and VoIP as technology is extremely powerful can be disruptive and we have a responsibility to ensure that it is deployed correctly and WxC makes no apology in our stance on deployment, Sorry jjnz1 I do get on my soapbox when I see things like this as really it's a cheap gimmick but puts the credibility of both VoIP and the New Zealand numbering network at risk, Look at it from a SP point of view we have to deal with the complaints and issues around this, if this was allowed could anybody trust the callerid number ? , this will open up to all sorts of cons down the path, people phoning in from with the local Bank Caller ID to check PIN id's and details etc, Insurance companies etc ... get the picture cool for you but what about your Mun, Dad or grandparents how would you feel if they got conned !!! we don't allow this in our network for a good reason we won't compromise the integrity of the Number ranges in New Zealand as far as I am concerned anyone doing this needs to be looked at by the industry because that is crap. I also don't buy into the 111 not subscribing to it argument, if your deploying local services you should be working hard to support as much as you can around this essential service, not just it's to hard lets just not do it type of thing Some here seem to think just because VoIP can offer a large range of services that it shouldn't be bound by rules just coz it's cool, I will argue against this till the death as it's cowboy deployments and this essential service technology has a social and I would imagine a legal responsibility to be done correctly.
