BTW: I would not use a SPA 2102 as a router.. You will get a Max of about 6Mbps through it only. But if your connection is slower than this then it will make no difference but be aware.

7.5 in my experience.  If you use it in bridge mode it doesn't have the same impact...  but yes.  Check my history... I already got caught on that one as well :)

Visited fligh today & sorted out his VoIP / connection woes. Set the SPA up for PPPoE auth, and reloaded the 2talk settings etc, and he's away ringing :)
Also offered some advice if any more issues; e.g. I always recommend at least a WRP400 for this type of setup and mentioned an alternative provider too.

@fligh do post back in a few days so we know how it's all going.

Cheers
Fraser

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?

Well Fraser, you de man! You answered all my questions (and some un-asked) in a few key-strokes. I'm up and running. There are still some issues around drop-outs these due to my ISP methinks.

Thanks to all you GZer's who helped me through this, yes, it could have been terminal, but I, and my marriage survived. She can talk.........and talk......

Thanks also to Mr Don Gould for your offer of help.

You're welcome and good to hear you're on the road.

Would you guys care to share what you did to sort things out and how they're set up so that others can also get on the road and fix their ailing relationships? :)

Very cool CB! :)  So you identified that the guys computer was running a pppoe client from his wireless AP so he needed to set up the ATA as a PPPoE router and then plug the PC into the back of the ATA on the second port (I'm guessing)?

That ATA needs a firmware update as well (though I'm guessing the pic you've just posted is a mockup from something on your test bench and not the customers one).  I found the call quality with 2Talk is rubbish with the shipped firmware (which I guess is why 2Talks web site tell you to update the firmware).

With the ATA as a router, he'll only get 7.5mbits of download from my experience.  How quick is his wireless ISP meant to be?

Did you stick with 2Talk or move him over to VXF?  (seems like VXF might be a better choice for this guy as he'll get better support which he still needs at present?).

Also do you want to drop me a PM of areas you service?  Next time I see someone asking for help I'll reffer them to you :)

Hi Don,
Yes, picture from an SPA I have sitting here. He's still on 2talk. Wireless connection seems quite fast (from the quick speed test I did), so the SPA2102 may limit this. Quality of SPA & router shortcomings is a reason I don't personally supply / install this model anymore. WRP400 or SPR52x is what I do now.

Waikato to Auckland is where I cover.
