Hi all!
Tearing my hair out a bit trying to get a SIP trunk setup with an Asterisk server.
I can register my number on Asterisk when I don't have SIP trunking enabled on 2talk no problems. But as soon as I enable SIP trunking it just won't register.
Now from what I understand I need to stop Asterisk doing the normal registration by going in to sip.conf and change register=yes to =no. But this is where I fall short! I am using Asterisk GUI and as far as I can tell it isn't actually updating the sip.conf when I change stuff on the gui. But because normal registration works it has to be writing stuff to some where right? After lots of googling I just can't find a thing.

Oh and in my router (pfsense) I have ports 5060 & 10000-11000 forwarded to the asterisk box. Then just for good measure added a pass rule in the firewall for the trunk.2talk.co.nz ip address. figured that isn't really needed but just did it as I was grasping at straws lol.

Maybe I just should just stick to Samsung PBXs instead haha.

Thanks in advance!
Sam

I don't use 2talk and the Asterisk GUI is terrible, FreePBX is vastly superior.

I haven't used FreePBX yet. I installed Asterisk and then googled asterisk gui so therefore ended up asterisk gui lol.

Will give FreePBX a go and see how that goes.

Just make sure your Asterisk box is secure. Out of the box it won't be, and with ports open I'll put a wager on you being hacked within the first month.

yea been reading about hacking. With the port forwards iv only allowed traffic from 2talk's IP. In terms of 'making it secure' just going over all the default passwords and making sure their are minimal voicemail boxes is all thats required?

Reinstalled the entire with AsteriskNOW. I should have done that in the first place. It was so so so much easier than getting each element. Thanks sbiddle!
