Does TelstraClear accept SMTP on anything other than port 25?

Ran into a problem today for a customer - They have a clear.net.nz email address. They use Clear ADSL in their home office and use an XT connection when out of the office. The problem is sending on port 25 to smtp.clear.net.nz (yes, using SMTP AUTH) appears to get blocked on XT. I've currently given them a work-around with another provider running on port 465, but is there an alternative port for smtp.clear.net.nz that anyone is aware of?

So many wrongs that I'm not sure how to make a right. Business customers should be using a mail server set up in their DNS for so many reasons it's just not worth explaining unless you really want to know! Promote New Zealand - Get yourself a .kiwi.nz domain name!!! Check out mine - i.am.a.can.do.kiwi.nz

Would strongly suggest they switch to a proper email system that also doesn't tie them into using the same provider. E.g. a gmail is free and just forward the clear address...

Then they can have their dns set up properly and use mail form where ever they can get net (yes I do web mail as well as all the normal access on port 587). IMAP support is there, which is better than using POP as we also back up all the mail every night if they want. We also do instant forwarding to Gmail accounts by user and away messaging. Please excuse the self promotion, but I just wanted to give some indication of what you can do and get. The client is just silly to be messing about an ISP mail account. With a domain name they can also move providers if they're not happy or if a better deal comes along. Do a bit of looking around, you'll find there are now a number of New Zealand based hosts that will provide this level of service in this price bracket. Decent email providers have SSL/TLS connections on port 465 or 587 for sending email from email clients so you can send securely from any network. Unfortunately most big ISP's in NZ aren't good email providers.
