Well, I was hopeful it had been resolved. Performance over the last few nights was patchy, but tonight it is back to very poor.

0.35 Mbps Down / 0.99 Mbps Up - Consumer Speed Test

I can't even watch videos on Stuff.co.nz let alone youtube. I'm off to find something else to do.

I'm starting to think the same thing about moving ISP's. My contract is up, so I should check whats available.

Thanks

As a suggestion to those being affected in the Tauranga region, should we continue this conversation in the -

Low bandwidth, high latency in Tauranga Thread?

Well, I hope some switch is being flicked tonight, because my issues are still extreme as well.
Ever since the last school holidays it has been absolutely buggered speed wise and peak time is a joke.
I'm really sick of paying $180.00 a month for 24 kb DL speeds.

Can we get a response from the Telstraclear guy who gave the timeline about the end of the week?

I have given up.

After looking at truenet and reviewing the various ISP performances it reports have switched to Vodafone.

Hopefully made the right decision.

Matamata has the same problem, at my olds in the weekend I was still getting similar speeds to what is shown above. Basically the speed throughput makes it feel like you've been capped

Top score.

7.8 Kb through FTP.
I would do a speed test but the Telstraclear speed test page won't load.

I guess I could stop the FTP download to eek out the apparent 7.8kb available to go to the speed test page but for some strange reason I don't think it's really going to be worth it.

Telling us what's going on would be great.
Now's good.

Short answer based on my experience is no as I am also in an area with VDSL if I wanted it.

I did an on-line switch to Vodafone on Monday afternoon and it is being done today apparently.

I lost internet access at home this morning so assume TCL have cut me off, hope Vodafone delivers on their side today!

I will report tonight on whether this has solved the problem.

hi All,
I am in central auckland and now with Telstraclear on this new $75 deal since March 2012, and ever since i moved to telstraclear my speeds are upto 3Mbps down/.8 Mbps up during peak times. Web browsing seems to be okay but youtube, skype etc are very bad. have checked the dns settings and i am using the correct telstra dns servers. My modem sync speeds havent changed at all, they have always been 15000/1000. I only have one phone jack at home. I have tried my old Tplink modem with the same result and currently using the Netcomm wireless modem supplied by Telstraclear. When i was with telecom i dont recall seeing my speedtests to be below 10 Mbps down even at peak times. I have logged a fault with Telstraclear level 2 team who is investigating for over 2 months now. Any help would be appreciated...

Came home at lunchtime and changed my modem across to he vodafone login.

Just ran a geekzone speedtest and got 15.76 up / 1.04 down.

Not in peak time  but looking exceptionally good. Will update when I get home again tonight.

Geez, I  might have to do the same. How did you do an online switch?

Its on vodafone.co.nz and say you want to sign-up for their phone and broadband service. Takes you to a form which you fill out. Need your telstraclear account numbers (and also skytv if you change that over as well). Once its submitted process starts, they also email telstraclear to let them know you are switching.

I submitted on Monday afternoon and my tolls and mobile phone switched across that same day. landline and broadband went live this morning.

I was amazed at how efficient it all was.

Why did I go for vodafone?
$100 got me 60 gig, free calling to one vodafone mobile (which is my work phone) and half price skysport.

Signed up for 12 months and so no cionnection fee and a free gateway not that I need it

Just got home from work and the speed has taken a hit but still acceptable:

Down 7.23 / up 0.86

so about 10x quicker on the download than TCL has been over the past few weeks

I'll post a couple of updates through the evening

Seem to have lost my edited update

Ran test again just before 7pm, performance improved from earlier in the evening

Up 9.80 / Down 1.01

Delighted!

Confirms in my mind that it was very much a TCL problem that we were having (in Tauranga in any case)
