TelstraClear uses appliances that subscribe to reputation filters in order to filter out spam etc. If the address of the sending MTA has a poor reputation, it is possible that incoming messages from that address will be throttled down to a certain amount per hour. Poor reputation is earned by the behaviour of the users of the MTA - if there is a genuine spammer, or the address is a new one and there is a huge flood of email coming from it (php bulletin board digests to tens of thousands of subscribers for example) the Internet community that feeds into the reputation engines flags this up and the reputation can be downgraded. This may or may not be what is causing the "bounce back from Telecom" described. Without information about the sending MTA from the headers, no-one can check to see if there are any reputation issues. Look he can call the helpdesk wont help him though cos he dont get the headers the senders do as bounces back I asked here really to see if others having the same issue and havent reported it as its only a few emails bouncing randomly each day they might not of bothered to worry and report it saying call the helpdesk is hardly a helpful reply is it.. cos thats what everyone does..common sense... its like the joke... have you tried rebooting and powering it off :) others may had same issue so I asked here.. as could of be 3 simple steps to tweak his email account himself to it wont bounce any emails and also if others search and read the same fault they can pipe in and post I had same issue and what not. its not too hard really.. and the person posting with the clear avatar logo assumed it was helpdesk as again I know this is a forum but some do visit and post replies in previous questions on plans and what not well enough said on this now.. lets see if others report the same error and see what develops or if the problem suddenly vanishes

again its not reputation... I dont believe all his friends emails should be delayed and odd ones bouncing back the spam filter from what I read on this error example one... http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20110313171520AAf0xSU On the Microsoft forum, they said that this message is coming from the recipients' internet service provider, not yours. Many of them set the limit at 50 emails. Some are set as low as 15 recipients for one email. It is a spam-fighting tool. for me I dont send heaps of emails to him.. perhaps one a day what i think is happening.. is they are queued for some reason instead of arriving when I send and suddenly are sent to him days later.. I guess it could be that sometimes it appears as if Im sending 50 emails which triggers the problem if thats the case? so maybe its 2 problems telecoms yahoo rubbish email system they use and the limits set on friends clear account one way would be to up the limit his end I guess. others seem to get my emails just fine as they answer soon after... again never had this problem when he was with snap just happen ever since been with clear

here is another one saying what I said.. If too many attempts to send mail happens within a specific time frame it?s regarded att an attack and the anti-spam feature kicks in and denys connection attempts. This is common to see if you have mail queuing up to some remote domain (for whatever reason) and it starts working and your Exchange Server releases all the messages at once, thus mailbombing the remote domain. So, check to see if you at times are sending lots of mail to the remote domain and if you do, check to see if they (or ISP) have some anti-spam features at work.

now i believe also thats 50 emails in a hour per domain not single user too.. if everyone else is on xtra and all friends emails hang and send later.. either way its a weird and interesting problem.. its just a annoyance more then anthing as you have to resend the email after the hour passes then he gets it :)

Although, the full content of the error message you get, could be helpful. kiwigeek1: again its not reputation... You don't know that - "reputation" is a term used in relation to mail server's that's highly complicated and technical. email header information will assist with ascertaining this. kiwigeek1: for me I dont send heaps of emails to him.. perhaps one a day That's not what it means. the limit applies to the number of people listed on the To:/Cc: lines in the email messages being sent to the end user. It's common to see spam with hundreds of people in the To: header, which is what this is trying to stop. It's not common for people to send email messages with more than a dozen recipients. yes, it happens, it's just not common. kiwigeek1: again never had this problem when he was with snap just happen ever since been with clear right, which would indicate the problem is more likely with his email client/account/server/isp, or something. agreed.. but I havent got a header to share anyhow as I deleted it after resending... again I thought I asked as others may be experiencing this with telecom to clear emails as well. and true it maybe clear.co.nz spam filter has a reputation with yahoo email server which xtra people use.. again I asked initially in case was a simple fix in case someone had same problem this year and solved it.. like a 2 second tweak logging in the settings via web browser to the email account. if that make sense

opps and no.. it just me sometimes in the header maybe 2 other people CCed.. cant see hows thats a problem not sending to a big joke list.group like most do. I could under stand if attachment/joke etc had a header with loads in it or some banned url or keywords but then I would expect the bounce back to have another error to do with spam or banned domain thats spam filters for you.. its amazing how many normal emails end up in xtra/yahoo spam folder I have setup pop peeper to check the spam folder as well now its a great tray tool for win 7 and xp can setup all email accounts with it to alert for new stuff supports pop imap and web email systems.. good product but thats off topic now..

To be honest, I was pondering it because my own mail system got miffie at a user the other day and chucked the same error at them, so I recalled seeing the error number iirc. My users can set their own limits, the offender had understated their own mail account. Promote New Zealand - Get yourself a .kiwi.nz domain name!!! Check out mine - i.am.a.can.do.kiwi.nz

hmmm dont worry its nothing to do with full email boxes ive posted links above if read explains why the error happens it could be a combination of issues causing it to do with spam control not just the receivers isp but the senders as well.. but alas problem didnt exist until he moved isps Bye.. thats me done here

I looked at a few and they looked wrong to me, so I looked up the RFC error messages and not random faq doc written by ISPs (yahoo) who are know to often write wrong stuff in their FAQ's. Just because google presents it, doesn't mean it's right, it just means that people have clicked on it more often in search results so it ranks higher.
