Hi Gary,

Ive just sent you a PM explaining the situation, but the interesting thing is the spam has stopped the last two days !

I still get the odd couple each day, but not the amount I was getting for the last week and not with the same subject header.

Could be being caused my a whole range of things.

Having draw this to Gary's attention, I'm sure the TCL mail admins are also aware of it and had a bit of a look, but it's just as likely that the servers where the spam is getting into the network have also had some attention and there's simply less spam coming at TCL.

It's also possible that anti-spam databases have now been trained to see the patterns in the mail you've been getting (that's what the address Gary posted earlier is all about).

I must be a dinosaur, because I still use my Paradise account a lot for all family-related email traffic. I collect it with Outlook 2010.

I find it neither slow, nor ancient, nor spammy. I can't remember when I last receieved any spam to that account. Months ago, probably.

Using Paradise this way, the email experience is identical to the corporate email system that I use at work, which also uses Outlook 2010 as the client.

Thanks Martyyn. ISPs all around the world are common targets for phishing emails. Occasionally a new or revised one will get through to a few customers before the anti-spam protection that ISPs run can detect it and prevent delivery to the bulk of other customers.

The message that you posted shows many of the clear signs of spam (poor writing, over-capitalisation, use of American-style 'officialese' (the 'all rights reserved' etc) and, of course, a link to click that leads to a non-ISP address.

If spam gets through to your mailbox, please send a copy of it as an attachment to:

    missedspam@paradise.net.nz

    missedspam@clear.net.nz

This email address is used by our filters to sort and categorise messages which have been able to evade the filters.

Please forward the message as an attachment so we will be able to view the path the spam took to reach you.
Cheers, Gary
