RalphFromSnap:
freitasm: My hope is that one day Cloudflare or Amazon will have a New Zealand POP. Because we can't rely on ISPs' international connectivity - they really don't give a damn to how fast things are.

We care! - we have people 24/7/365 monitoring this sort of stuff.

One thing to remember about the ISP Map is that it does not show up many direct peering sessions with CDN's etc - its only major transit routes, so for example it does not show peering's with the linkes of Google/Akamai/AWS - and importantly the IX's like Equnix.

Hi mercutio

We have had Akamai CDN's in our network for over 5 years, and do peer with Akamai in Sydney, but the CDN's pull data from distributed sources around the world, generally from the end providers themselves, it would be unusual for Snap customers to get Akamai content from TelstraClear's CDN's, although Akamai does change things from time to time.

The data below is through the Equnix Sydney IX.

Ragnor: Looks like Telstraglobal (formerly Reach) routing to Equinix data center via Hong Kong again... then it seems like it goes to Singapore rather than Sydney Cloudfare server.

Odd.

Just noticed that we're now back at 45ms to cdn.geekzone.co.nz, down from the 150 - 200ms.

Well done, TelstraClear/Vodafone.
