Just a thought... Once the TelstraClear brand is absorbed, might TC traffic be routed differently such as via internet exchanges like Vodafone?

Fingers crossed. Would suck if Vodafone took over Telstra's previous attitude. With CDNs etc. now it is easier for local content providers to make those who use their market position to extort money pay for their policies.

Hopefully Vodafone decide to move all the customers to their platform ie: their international and domestic transit, peering and routes.

Domestic peering won't be the only benefit, for international Telstra Global/Reach/whatever it's called now has always been crappy with random limits on single threaded throughput and periodic odd routing through asia to AU and US.

Suspect it will be many months if not years before it happens though.

I doubt moving from the existing TelstraClear infrastructure and policies would happen that fast.

My guess is Vodafone will use a lot of the TelstraClear infrastructure - backbone and ULL stuff, but keep the connections to the world in place as they are at the moment.

Might change in a few months, but my guess is these things won't happen fast enough.

I would assume that capacity contracts will already be in place with TelstraGlobal.

I would also assume that there are contracts in place with customers for capacity and changing providers would also impact customer contracts.

Moving 250k customers to VF upstreams would also involve purchasing more capacity at every level as well, something that can't normally be done at the drop of a hat for this volume of customers.

All of this is, of course, very much only logical assumption as VF have had lots of time to be preping for these changes while waiting on ComCom, so for all we know it could be more immanent.   Having said that, we're getting very close to Christmas freeze now, so I really wouldn't expect anything before Feb.

I hope it doesn't freeze, it's meant to be summer! :P

I would assume we're all guessing and none of us have any idea.

That's just an assumption, of course.
