Interested in what you all think about TCL beating up TNZ at the moment over wholesale broadband. It seems to me that the media, the commerce commission and TCL all seem to forget that TCL have a high speed cable broadband network. I am curious as to why the commerce commission do not force TCL to wholesale their network or meet government mandated targets for customer connections. Is it just me or are there others who have not forgotten that TCL purchased Saturn and then reneged on rolling out cable to all the places Saturn had commited to. I just don't see wholesale being true competition - it is the same stuff regurgitated. True competition is Woosh. TCL are not prepared to invest in NZ.

TCL is a bad boy too... they should just continue laying cable lines. and having the ability to port Telecom number over to cable line too to encourage number portability! and their new cable internet plan..... (compulsory TCL phone service? grrrr.... no! Just heard some more speculation about the cable network - 1) you won't be able to stay on the current plans, everybody will have to move to new plans which will mean getting a phone if you don't already have one and 2) all users will be moved to dynamic IP and static IP's will be unavailable to residential customers (but should be available to bsuiness customers). If either of these are true then TelstraClear have definately lost the plot. It looks like the beginning of the end for Allan Freeth, particularly since they're losing so many corporates and even those who they haven't lost are sick of the crap. *Need help configuring your Linksys ATA or IP Phones for New Zealand? Well i for one certainly will not want new phone number if they insisting that i need to have phone service with TCL. otherwise IF they can provide a secondary phone jack without charge AND without interuption/alteration to my current phone number on Telecom. Otherwise, I'd might as well call it quit with TCL and move back on with Telecom+Sky. sure i lose a few channels with Sky but better than forcing me to pick packages that i don't need. TCL is surely becoming Telecom... Has any one done any comparisons between to two companies?? TCL are nice and post all their prices....you try getting that out of Telecom its painful. I asked Telecom and you know they didn't even bother to respond. There is no reason why you can't have both. In 99% of cases however when people change they are going to disconnect their Telecom phone so the installer will simply cut the Telecom wiring at the demarcation point, join the TCL cable there and replace jackpoints if needed. You didn't ask for sky - just broadband. Hmmm... 1. go to www.telecom.co.nz 2. enter 'sky' in 'site search' 3. select 'packages' or 'put it together and save' Took me less than a minute.

So.. did what Jama said... i still couldn't find the price for Sky digital Start up though. the price listed are how much it will be for premium channels and are billed from Sky directly. So, what will the package be fore Homeline + Sky Digital Start Up + Sky Movies Package + Xtra Broadband ADVENTURE? (p/s: will there be SDSL? like 2Mbps up and down? 128kbps up is so slow!) Yes and carry on, Residential Packages, TvLine Great....now where's the price??? Tells me how much Sport, and movies and all the other crap is, but not how much the Sky and Phone is. I was waiting to see if you actually read the web page or not - obviously not. At the top of the Telecom TVLine page it says: 'If you need information about TVLine find it below but please note that we are no longer offering TVLine to new customers.' I would take it from this statement that Telecom are no longer offering Sky/phone bundles. Hence why there is no price.

Few weeks ago i called Telecom Call Centre and i asked about Sky Digital Start up, and they said they still offer it, what they don't offer is TVLine package. From what I read from Telecom's website, it does offer Homeline and you can get Sky Digital Start Up.
