Topic # 96243 23-Jan-2012 08:31 Send private message

I opened this thread over in the Sky forums here because I cannot stream iSky without persistent buffering issues.

Basically, whenever I have tried watching any Sky Sport streams (particularly the Aussie Open) this last week, my iSky loads and plays but it halts and buffers every 10-20 seconds.

According to the other thread I posted, other users were testing this yesterday and posting at the same time as me and reported iSky playing without stopping to buffer every 10-20 seconds. However, those users were NOT on telstraclear and one user reported seeing the same issue when using iSky on a family member's Tesltra connection.

For the record, I'm connected to Tesltraclear via ADSL in Central Auckland and I always synch at 20mbps (thank you cabinet upgrade!) and I connect to my Draytek Vigor 120 modem via ethernet.  My connection pulls 17mbps all the time and I watch lots of live streams from around the world and never have buffering issues.

Are there some other Telstra users here who use iSky? Can you report if you suffer any buffering issues, particularly while watching Sky Sport streams via iSky?  If so, can you report your general location (Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch, etc...)

Thanks for this thread, spacedog. Just joined up to say there are abysmal buffering problems (every 15 secs or so) trying to watch sport here in Paraparaumu using Telstraclear.

TC's large presence here has allowed me try it at a neighbour's place and connect the dots, backs you up on it being a TC-specific issue.

Watching Catchup seems fine, no buffering problems. I haven't tried it live at 4am or something yet to know for sure if virtually zero traffic allows a smooth stream.

Thanks for post. Keep us advised.

Will be interesting to see if any other telstra users weigh-in on this thread.

Replied in your other thread, not sure why you need two threads... it's just going to split the replies.

moved the thread to this one as it is more appropriate since it appears to be a TC issue

I noticed the CND is hosted with Orcon so suspect a TCL <--> Orcon peering issue.

Does seem to vary on traffic for me, not iSky's but maybe Telstra's total. Got up and watched the 4th set of Hewitt v Djokovic (2am-3am) without any buffering, stream just occasionally had that 240p look to it.

First few balls of Australia v India cricket test today, bad as ever. A CNN interview right now in the cricket's lunch break, repeatedly buffering.

Hi, I am with Telstra at my work place, and have exactly the same issues...

But at home with snap, its 100% better with streamimg isky.

Did Telstra give you a time frame, when this issue may be fixed?????
if not I may need to change providers.

Did the trace thing and it looks like this below, which means nothing to me.

cheers

No. Telstra didn't give me an estimate. I'm still having issues and I just haven't had time to call TC and complain/request an update.

We’re also aware of this issue and investigating to determine where the cause lies.
