My credit card was charged by microsoft store, but when I look on FedEx at the tracking# I was sent "invalid tracking number".  If I log into the store, the order is not in my history.  I got the 'shipping confirmation' email on the 30th (a week ago).  Might pay to check yours...

My surface and touch cover arrived from MS store to YouShop in US on time on 26th October. It has since left US for NZ and it has been forever to reach the NZ shores.

sidefx: Shouldn't that be "Windows RT"? - wouldn't want to mix it up with WinRT == Windows Runtime, a different beast entirely.  Confusing yes, but you of all people should know this Bill :P

Never stopped them in the past Outlook/Outlook Express; SharePoint Team/Services/Portal Server/Foundation/MOSS Server etc.

So do we have any word on when we can expect any Win 8RT tabs in the country through proper channels? Surface or otherwise...

The guys at JB HiFi say that the Surface is only available at MS stores which NZ doesn't have ... so it will only be available online. MS might get around to licencing somebody like Apple do with Yoobee in Wellington or let it be sold through normal retail channels or they might not consider NZ worth it. I'd give it even money either way.

Are other device makers making Windows RT tabs?

Didn't anybody tell you I was a hacker?

Wow that's no good...

I used the company that NZ Post use for the you send it service ComGateway and it was shipped via DHL the day I was notified it had arrived. Left on Friday NZ time and arrived in NZ Sunday so I had it yesterday. Was really pleased with ComGateway as it was my first item to have shipped with them.

Just received my surface. Superb hardware. Got the touch cover as well which came in a rather big cardboard packaging box that alone cost $70 for shipping while surface only cost $35 via youshop. Done windows updates and loving this device so far. Have found the keyboard muting bug though on touch cover. Hopefully this will be fixed in an update soon.

It appears there are two places to run Windows Update from and one includes updates to built-in apps, the othe doesn't. Is this still the case?

WU will pickup all updates for Windows RT and Office 2013

Right now to force Office RTM to install you need to go to the desktop WU control panel as the update is still being throttled by the servers and opened up to 100% in the coming weeks

Windows Store apps get updated from the Store

Just called Microsoft sales on 0508 149 421 to ask when it will be released in NZ and the sales phone help person told me he didn't know, and that I should wait until the Pro comes out because it's better.

Few major updates are available to download via windows update under charms menu for surface RT including a firmware update. Task switching has no noticeable lag and apps like mail and store open quicker.

Works great on corporate domains. Hard part is going to be getting essential apps recompiled for ARM!
