Setting up a server 2012 box today for a client. First one of 2012 that i have done.

Boy am I F**ing angry.
Took 5 minutes for me to figure out how to get into the old computer management console so i could partition the second hard drive and give it a drive letter. The 'new' managment interface is over simplified and makes it harder to do the basic things.

This metro crap has got to go!

My understanding is that its going more power shell, less GUI? Same with exchange 2013 etc

As i understand, we can now run server essentials 2012 as a small terminal server. SO its like SBS except they have taken out exchange and put in terminal server capability.

I am migrating our customers off exchange and onto hosted kerio now. Works out cheaper for the customer at $5 per month, per mailbox, and we can have our receptionist doing the basic email support as its much easier to manage.

Im dyslexic and i really hate having to deal with command prompts. I can easily create a kixtart or batch script but dont really want to learn the powershell.

Kerio vs Exchange is a good example of this. Exchange is going more into the powershell interface making it harder to manage and complete tasks, yet kerio is very simple, and has all the same features as exchange - so microsoft lost a sale there.

They are also loosing sales on windows 8 - customers are already coming in asking if we can downgrade their new laptop from noel leeming or hnorman back to windows 7.

Yet another direction MS has taken I can't understand. I want Metro on my Server even less than my computers! Who the hell thought it was a good idea is beyond me.
