Have disabled Wireless Adapter. Everything seems to be fine.

But having Norton issues, too: http://community.norton.com/t5/Norton-360/Norton-360-loads-clicking-on-taskbar-icon-makes-it-disappear/td-p/915827

I did not see anything there that would cause problems on a Norton reinstall. The issue you discussed over there appears to occur only on a Windows reinstall. Did I miss something?

I make reference to reinstalling Windows in a comment re: Norton backup, but the issue is regarding Norton disappearing from the taskbar since yesterday.

I am now in safe mode. I tried to restart, it was showing restarting then a kernel error occurred. In WhoCrashed, it was said that a third party driver was the probable cause. That said, I have disabled my wireless adapter.

I am attempting to remove and reinstall Norton 360 again to see if it will stay put. Prior to the restart, the disk activity was more than likely at 100%, but I'm putting that down to Norton crashing (after clicking on the icon in taskbar, it disappearing).

Hi,

My money is on a faulty HDD or bad sectors.

You can test this by re-installing windows do a format and re-install all your software (be sure to back it up)

The reason i think the hard drive is the culprit is because the high disk activity and the error you are receiving can also be caused by the hard drive on its way out.

If its under warranty I would take it back to who ever you bought it from and get them to have a look as part of there testing they would put in a new Hard drive to check if the error occurs. Unless you can buy a cheap laptop hard drive.

Don't say that! :( I only got this laptop on boxing day 2011.

At the moment, the disk activity seems to be stable. It is only Norton I am having issues with.

Wireless adapter still disabled. I suspect that may be the driver beyond all these issues.

You might try disabling WLAN in bios and uninstalling the device driver. Norton might br happier with that.

Still having issues with Norton.

Having being escalated twice within Norton support, the last guy checked my master boot record.
