I'm currently working in Beijing on a short term gig.  The company I'm working for has kindly supplied me with a local mobile (local calls/ SMS only) and a mobile internet WCMDA USB stick for internet on my PC. So most of my bases are covered for interwebs while here... I also have a VPN which surprisingly I needed to logon to geekzone...

So my issue.  Sitting at work I have my overseas smartphone & my local (CN) mobile.  I want to keep up to date with wife etc by using the apps on the smartphone by using the wifi from my PC.  Now my old win 7 HP laptop had an app for that... but my new ASUS win 8.1 doesn't.  After a bit of research I found that windows 8 that has a little gem called Microsoft Hosted Network Virtual Adaptor.  You can use this to create a virtual router on your PC to share the internet via wifi.

All setup, can connect the phone - but the kicker is that I cannot surf or connect to anything on the smartphone.  Any ideas? I've got a Samsung Note II, which connects fine to my home wifi and to wifi network at the hotel.

Regards, Steve

Cheers, Stevo
