Skolink:
Meez: I just spoke to computer technicians.  If it was a virus it would have shown up in the sent folder of my windows mail.
Because of where it was, they think my ISP has been hacked.

I'd have thought a virus would just grab your mail server settings and contacts from windows mail and sent the emails directly itself, therefore they would not appear in the outbox.

If the emails appeared in the sent items on your webmail the technician is correct.

Either your account was breached (so you need to change your password)
Or you ISP was breached (much bigger problem).

Either way at the moment the only thing you can do is change your login password - you should be able to so this in the settings of your webmail.

They changed the webmail a while ago so you have to go through the ISP to change it.  I've got it reset.

That in itself seems like bad security, what ISP are you with?

Meez: Weird!  I just looked back at my ISP webmail and there are hundreds of those sent from there.  None at all
on my home computer.

What do you mean by header?

Take a look at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Email#Header_fields. In short headers include info on who sent the email, how it was routed, type of content, spam/virus score (not always) and various other bits and pieces of info that are useful to mail servers. Depending on your webmail software, you need to look for a "view Headers" or "view full message" link. For an example of what they look like go to: http://whatismyipaddress.com/email-header.

Glad you've changed your password, even if there is another cause for the spam it should always be your first port of call to be on safe side.

I've had another 5 emails come "back" from Mrs Donald.  Nothing on webmail though.
