As above, are any GZers heading down to Courtenay Place later today for The Hobbit festivities?  I can't really decide if I can be bothered - it's going to be pretty mental....

I have a feeling I'd have a better time watching it online!  Especially after seeing that massive cruise liner docking in the harbour this morning......I really can't deal with boat-folk....

Im going, pretty excited. Im not a fanatic or anything so I haven't read the books only watched the LOTR movies. I think im just caught up in the hype. Going to head down at around 12-12:30 ish.

Edit: Remember you only live life once, might aswell make the most of it. I didnt go to any of the LOTR premieres but thought why not to this one.

I went to the Fellowship and Return of the King premiere parades. They were kinda fun but really unless you get a good spot a few hours before it starts you're not going to be able to see much - and since I'm working until it starts I'd just be battling the crowds. We have a view over Dixon Street but unfortunately can't see down Taranaki Street/Courtenay Place :(

Watching it on the web or on telly will be a much better experience for me I think ;)

So you think getting there 3/4 hours before it starts you will get a good spot? Be able to take pictures easily enough and get an autograph or 2?

I really doubt it.  Maybe near the very start of the red carpet up at Taranaki Street but certainly not anywhere near The Embassy.

They started the fencing and carpet laying after 6 last night, on tv this morning most the fence-side spots were taken by people who were camped there since 9 last night. Sleeping bags and all.

In short. Take a ladder ;)

Nope

I'm working from home today to avoid it all, enjoying the peace and quiet up in Broadmeadows

At least people who dress up know how to walk at a reasonable pace and don't stop to take photos of buildings in the middle of peak foot traffic :)

Looks like the Citylink website is down.. I wonder if that is due to too many people hitting the streaming Courtenay Place camera?
