As for 48fps, I wonder who amongst the GZ members has been to Disneyland and taken the Star Tours ride? What makes that ride so realistic, apart from the motion of the chairs, is the fact that the projected image of a view out of the cockpit of the space ship is at 60fps. Any nausea from riders is probably intentional! In fact there are warnings before the ride about that potential side effect.
The 60 fps of Star Tours makes the ride very realistic and you really feel like you are in the ship.
Another less mentioned feature of this movie is that Jackson decided to mix the movie in Dolby Atmos.
This can deliver up to 64 channels of sound and I am sure Peter had the Embassy fitted out with Dolby Atmos for the premiere.
So if you are planning to go to the movie and are in Wellington, then go to the Embassy. Nothing else will do.
And for you Aucklanders, there are $29 AirNZ tickets to Wellington available :-)
