I drive a Toyota Camry 1998 model with 170K on the clock. Has served me well over the 8 years I've owned it. Reckon it has another 100K in it.

For billions of years since the outset of time, every single one of your ancestors survived, every single person on your Mum and Dads side, successfully looked after and passed onto you life.  What are the chances of that like?

Nothing but Ford XR goodness!

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.
*Travel charges may apply. Additional costs may apply for complex installs.
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, RBI Rural Broadband. Also a dealer for WorldxChange.

1987 Mitsi sigma - loved it as my first car died of misuse with 205,000kms
1983 Ford laser - No manifold or exhaust, VERY LOUD got rid of with 230,000kms
1989 Mazda 626 - freebie that just needed a good service to get going again sold with 180,00kms
1994 Mitsi Evo 2RS - Loved this beast so much, spent 10k on engine only to sell it for nappies, sold with 108,00kms
1996 Chrysler Jeep grand Cherokee - was a nice ride, very very horrible fuel bills though, heaps went wrong with it, very pricey to fix, sold with about 126,000kms
1996 Toyota camry wagon, current car going strong, been serviced by Toyota since brand new, currently on 265,000kms :)

The Geek Mobile is almost new again! After $2,500 this week we have a new cam belt, fan belt, water pump, water seal, 100,000 km service complete, all fluids and filters changed...

Yes, it seems it cost more for a 100,000 service on a Chrysler than to buy a second hand Japanese import :(

IlDuce: My most recently purchased car, a 1998 Ford Mondeo, when it came time to sell, nobody wanted it. I dropped the price down and down, and in the end it was $300 and STILL nobody wanted it, so I took the goodies off and kicked it in, then took it to the car crusher.

Wow... It was a 12 year old car. Unbelievable how something that is (most of the times) the second most expensive purchase some people make comes down to nothing.

They seem to be a very nice car when they have low milage on them but when I was looking at older Mondeos last time I went car shopping they appeared to be notorious for oil leaks, and we are just in the process of getting rid of one from the fleet at work because it is costing a fortune every time it goes for a warrant or service.

I think I'll stick with Japanese myself, although I have to admit that I wouldn't mind giving Skoda a try.
