Well the media releases states they'll be adding hundreds of titles per month you may be right in that they have a limited amount at the moment but yeah give it a chance how many choices did you have for TV channels when that first started or ISP's when it became first available in NZ.

People need to show their support of things to justify the need for growth did SKY TV offer a great service at launch those who answer yes would only be doing so due to they were the only offering and a alternative to normal TV.

You want to see growth then support it so they can do just that it may suck that there's no HBO but hey that's just the current offering and really people should not be so narrow minded to try other things than just what the big $$$ companies push out. In saying that I too agree that the launch range of TV titles is very poor unless you like Black Adder or Dr Who...Oh wait who doesn't like those...

xpd:
crackrdbycracku: I hope the content gets better, but that isn't going to happen without support.

Theyve just opened the doors, give it a chance.
Just because youve downloaded illegally all the shows they offer isnt their fault...  ;)

For the people saying "oh but there is next to no content..."  I actually think that it's a pretty good door opener to show the type of content that they are thinking about, even if it's not a licensing issue, they may want to trickle it out, it's not like they've started with "Season 5" content, they are starting from the beginning, maybe end of April will see season 2 stuff going up, et al.

I wonder if you can sign up overseas and do the old drop the VPN once its streaming thing and the traffic will be unmetered as it goes thru their CDN or if the CDN will also have the geoblocks built into it.

If its just going to offer the same stale old crap I can get down the road on a disc or off fatso then im not interested.

Just as an aside HBO own 15% of quickflix..... so SKy's monopoly may not last much beyond its initial period...

According to Sky's head honcho they don't have a monopoly on video on demand content:

Computerworld: “That right (to distribute content) is known as subscription video on demand, I don’t have any of those rights. The studios won’t let me buy rights unless I’ve got a way to exploit it. Even if they did, you can’t get an exclusive,” Fellet told Computerworld.

Couldnt give a rats ar$e about HBO to be honest. The more BBC stuff the better. Im fed up to the back teeth with all the Amercian vampire, cop, ER, idol, reality rubbish.

Sadly with the site being down I have no idea what they are going to be showing !

are the only movies available for streaming ones from WarnerFilms? if you go to watchnow then browse movies, only option is warnerfilms....

they are offering 14 days free.

at $14.99 a month for streaming only package, its nearly the same as netflix, netflix is usd$6.99 (cost me exactly $10 nzd this month) + $4.99usd for unblock us.

doing a quick search for movies i would like to watch, none were available for streaming. the latest movies you have to pay individually....

ill stick with netflix until
1. more movies are available
2. movies are free streaming quicker, i dont mind paying for the latest a month before its free, i do this with vudu over hulu sometimes
3. a greater selection of backlog tv shows, eg netflix has buffy, angel, all star trek, blackadder, supernatural, dead like me, a bunch of BBC one off series

i realise its a newish service, and it will get more, but as it stands the streaming selection seems subpar, it is a great competitor to fatso however (which my brother uses, and i might convince him to switch to this)

but i am glad its coming out, and look forward to signing up in the not so distant future (hopefully)

I'm pretty interested in this as I don't watch NZ broadcast TV at all and currently don't have any legal options for watching my shows. I'll be wanting to play it on my PS3 as I use this as my media centre. I've previously tried TVNZ On Demand on PS3 and itwas god awful quality. Anyone been able to see how well QuickFlix works on PS3?

I dont see this as a replacement for Netflix/Hulu (Well not now anyway)

I do though see it as a replacement for Vudo. But I need to have a better look at the PPV libary

Seen the forum threads on Quickflix but haven't paid much attention,...

Read the article on Stuff today -> tried to to go quickflix.co.nz , nothing there -> google quickflix and see no signs of an NZ website -> click on the .com.au and see no mention of NZ -> give up.

Good launch day....
