Forget morals, is it illegal to send someone who owes you money multiple (up to 15 emails a day) asking for payment. What are the consequences?

I guess you could class it as harassment. Just setup a rule to have it bounce back a not at this address type reply.

Short answer: Yes it is illegal.

Breaches Harrasment Act, probably the new spam laws, and depending on how you word the emails possibly the Crimes Act or Summary Offences Act (threatening behaviour etc.)

Be careful using these tactics.

IANAL, but I doubt the antispam laws come into it, as I presume there would be a contractual relationship there, and I presume that emails communications were already active. Due to teh number of emails though I suspect it could be considered harassment.

I disagree with the law, things need to be viewed in context. I think if you get 5 emails a day tough bikkies, give my dam money back.

qwerty7: Forget morals...

The problem is when people forget morals they are bound to do something stupid or illegal. A code of morals is what guide communities. If one forgets moral than there's no sympathy left for that person.

The person can just block your emails, use old school tech; like the phone or the door bell.

Emails can be easily blocked. It is not like someone phoning or visiting you daily.
I get many emails daily from India spamming me, often from the same companies. Not sure if that could be considered harassment.
