Good on you Fraser ;)

I was almost confused for a minute, I didn't think you could still get Jetstream Starter.

We have a winner - will announce once I receive details back form that person.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.
*Travel charges may apply. Additional costs may apply for complex installs.
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, RBI Rural Broadband. Also a dealer for WorldxChange.

And the winner is... Regs takes the prize!

For the rest of you who don't want to miss out completely I have good news - a master splitter install for $100. Geekzone users already get a discounted price of $150 (normally $195), so this is very much a once off giveaway price.
- this offer is only for those who entered the competition above
- the offer closes 9am Thurs morning - 23-Aug-12
- only one install at this price per Geekzone member (still transferable)
- to take advantage of offer, please send me your contact details, including address via PM no later than 9am Thurs morning.
- travel charge of $25 will apply if you are not so urban
- and as usual additional cost may be applicable if the install is complex

Cheers
Fraser

Thanks so much Fraser! I'm not going to get the option of VDSL here, or UFB for a few years, so it will be good to squeeze the best I can out of what i'm stuck with..

leef: Not sure I know what these numbers mean,
I just know my internet is pretty slow and my numbers are less than most others here.
I think I started researching slow internet at just the right time :)
Good luck everyone, and thanks Fraser... Cool idea!

so it turns out my wiring wasn't too bad, but I still got an extra 15KB/sec to 20KB/sec on the download speed and my 'maximum attainable line rate' is constantly 500kbps higher than it was before, at 9560kbps.

That max rate is still under the 10mbps that I supposedly should get according to the chorus maps, and the actual connection rate of 7456Mbps quite a bit lower, so now that I have all my internal wiring sorted I could reasonably request a check done on the external wiring.

the greatest news is that I also have an extra 11KB/sec on the upload now - it went from a max of 95kb/sec up to 106kb/sec. That will make a *huge* difference when working on documents, uploading photos or doing across the internet backups.

jitter and latency have also improved, so that will be good when I finally get around to VoIP at home.

thanks for the splitter install fraser, and thanks also for attending to my extra wiring requests while you were here!
