Off the top of my head your best options are:

Flip - $50 for phone and 5GB of data.. If you don't need the phone just don't use it :)

or

Snap - $70 for naked DSL (no phone) with 50GB of data

If you're in a 2degree's broadband zone, 2ds do 3GB for $50 that lasts two months. http://www.2degreesmobile.co.nz/mobilebroadband/prepay-pricing

You won't find any naked DSL plans for that cheap, sadly.

No prob.. The other option is to go prepay mobile data. If you're in 2degrees coverage zones they'd be a good option. They do a data pack of 12GB for $99 which is valid for 6 months. $30/mth would get you three packs a year which would average about 3GB use per month. If you use less it would be cheaper.

From the recent Commerce Commission decision announcement:

The new geographically averaged price is $23.52 per month per line and comes into effect on 1 December 2014. This change equates to a 3.85% reduction on the prices set in 2007, which geographically averaged is $24.46.

If the ISP has to pay $24 for the Chorus’ unbundled copper local loop and then run their own ADSL service over those copper pairs, then there isn't much profit to be made from a 5GB plan for $30 a month, so they will need to sell you more data or bundle some other services.

If you are living in some sort of flatting arrangement, even with individually tenanted rooms, you might want to pool resources. Or perhaps talk nicely with a neighbour who has WiFi... of course there are some legal issues associated with this option. For example, your neighbour might not want to be blamed for your internet activities on his account, so don't be offended if he says no. In any case, I think that only some sort of wireless solution is going to meet your budget.
