Thanks for all the answers everyone.
I will still run 2 cables from garage to new location, that way when the chorus installer comes I will still be able to do both options, #1 being extended the cable and #2 being modem in the garage and just a network cable to new location. Well have to see whats the better option at the time.
Cheers

Where's the ETP. Often this is on side of garage, so if running cable to garage, then why not carry it on through wall to ETP?

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.
*Travel charges may apply. Additional costs may apply for complex installs.
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, RBI Rural Broadband. Also a dealer for WorldxChange.

Phone jack in garage is the ETP, hence extending the main cable from there no new location. Its an older house so there is no typical main junction box sort of thing just goes straight into a phone jack and daisy chained from there.
