Bought a 3tb drive to go in my external USB3 housing, to put the old 1tb into the PC.  This is the set up I want.

Turns out, the 3tb drive only shows up as 746.52gb.  Also turns out that the cheap housing doesnt work properly with 3tb drives.

Has anyone had luck with a housing from PB Tech that works with 3tb drives?

Looking at these two:

I can't see any size limits.  I would prefer to buy from PB tech as I wont have much time to get a delivery and need this by Friday.

Grrrrr stupid computers.

You have to use GPT for partitions on this disk as there's a limit of 2.1TB on old formats.

More information here.

I've tried that, but still no luck.  I understand I need to (reluctantly) buy a new enclosure.  Is this correct?  Anyone tried any that work?

I've seen some forums (with incomplete answers) that suggest splitting into 2tb and 1tb partitions, but under Disck Management utility I can only see an unallocated space of 746.39.  Even after converting to GPT.  Wish I had bought the 2tb drive... dammit

If all else fails call and ask. They probably hear this three times a day at least.

or try the contact form: http://www.pbtech.co.nz/index.php?p=contact
