And for anyone that is interested... The Nokia representative confirmed that the compass now works. Of course I made him prove it to me in a side-by-side comparison with my Lumia 800.

Is anybody definitley getting a 920 when it launchs this week? I figured I could get one for around $200. Sell my SGS3 for $600 or so, plus I have $200 worth of Telecom vouchers. Tempting, but I dont know if I want to part ways with SGS3

thelimoman: The Telecom Twitter just posted a pic from the event - looks like 2 WHITE Lumia 920's NFCing! Hopefully this means we get white as well :D

You can also see a remote control car with a car mount attached, I guess to test the 920's OIS considering that experiment has already been done before

Indeed it was to show the OIS and it suitably impressed :)

Black only at this stage sorry :)

Anyone ever bought from Axiom Telecom before out of Dubai? Official Nokia pages in that region are saying to buy from them so it seems pretty legit. They're selling unbranded, unlocked coloured ones, shipping from Dubai on Wednesday.
NZD$860 including shipping, excluding customs charges and GST.

Does anyone know if the Telecom 920 is unbranded, and doesn't have a custom telecom-logo bootscreen? Or if they will work on Vodafone/2degrees, or will they be locked?

lumia 800 is not unbranded so Lumina 920 would be telecom logo branded as well on boot screen. Nothing wrong with it. Will work on Vodafone and 2degrees.

I can confirm the Nokia Lumia 920 I have in my hands has Telecom logo appear at boot up. That said, it runs fine with non-Telecom SIM card thanks to it supporting 900mhz 3G equally as it does 850mhz 3G.

We will be discussing all the new Windows Phone 8 handsets on the NZ Tech Podcast tomorrow evening. As we may be discussing some NDA content there is a chance we might not be able to stream live. Will confirm tomorrow evening.

Lumia 920 by the way is a really slick device and for definitely feels nicer to use than the Lumia 900. Skype once installed is very nice too.

It's a concession too far. I was willing to settle for black, but I'm not paying $999 for a colour I don't want and branding I don't want. I'll import it and pay less, get a colour I do want and no branding.

Also, worth noting that NZ gets the same Lumia 920 as Australia which means it is also LTE (4G) enabled. Might be handy if you are hoping to get on Telecom NZ's 4G LTE network trial (count me in).
