billgates: Lot of users might not know this about WP8 but do go to the Wallet app and set a pin number for your wallet. This ensures that no one can delete/edit credit card info that you have tied up with your Microsoft account to purchase apps from marketplace or on Xbox 360. Also it will always ask for that pin number when buying paid apps from the Windows phone store.

Oh! Thanks! Done.

Is there any Emulators for Windows Phone? I am mostly interested in Gameboy + PS1 emulators, I love playing games from my childhood. I think I have found an emulator from Gameboy, but not one for PS1.

Thanks

They do get released very rarely if the dev gets lucky with the certification proccess but they also get pulled from the store very quickly since they those apps are not legally licensed to run PS1 and gameboy games. You would need to developer unlock your phone and side load apps like these.

Today I was told that I would be receiving a free Lumia 920 from Nokia. I had originally ordered the iPhone 5 for myself and the wife, however I cancelled my own order at the last minute.

I had been waiting patiently for the release on Friday 23/11 and had used my annual leave to queue at the Telecom store for release. I was extremely disappointed when I found out that Telecom had started selling on 22/11. I then wrote an email to Stephen Elop regarding the shambles that was the NZ launch - didn't expect anything from it. He came back to me in about 2-3 hours saying that they were trying to get the phone out to everyone (was already surprised to receive a response, first for me from a CEO of a big multinational). Elop then forwarded the email to Scott McFarlane, Nokia's NZ Sales Manager who emailed then called me regarding my frustration. Had a brief conversation with him and he let me know that he understood my frustration regarding obtaining a Lumia 920 and that he would be sending one out to me this afternoon and that I'd probably get it on Monday.

Much respect to Nokia! They now have me as a lifetime customer. Further, two colleagues of mine who were on the boat regarding getting the iPhone 5 or the Lumia 920 have now gone with the Lumia for peace of mind and just the fact that Nokia have damn good customer service!

I have to say the launch has been pretty pathetic. Unless you're following what's happening you wouldn't even know looking at Telecom's website that they've launched the Nokia 920 until you click on mobile phones and see it there

It doesn't instil confidence that Microsoft or Nokia have any faith in their products

Agreed, there's a similar sentiment across the world, people are still waiting for their preorders in some cases. Just seems a bit odd that they didn't realise people really wanted to buy the 920. Telecom's launch was just silly as well, pretty much non-existent. Although the one good thing is that NZ actually got it fairly quickly

Does anybody have a SGS3 aswell as a Lumia 920? Im wanting to know what the size difference between the two is. I dont mean screen sizes I mean entire device sizes. Had a quick look on google images but couldn't find any "Real life" ones only the photoshopped type pictures.

I want to see how much bigger the SGS3 is while the 920 is sitting on it.

Thanks if you could take a picture for me or could direct me somewhere... :D

You're obviously not old enough, but there's also a Sinclair Spectrum emulator out now on WP... real nice :)

I've had a far worse experience than this over the last year with my Lumia 800... way worse. I also went through exactly the same launch day drama as you. I've been planning to write it up to send to Elop but wasn't sure it was worth the trouble.. and now I've gone ahead regardless and bought a 920 off Telecom online. I might write it up just for fun anyway, but for now I'm going to put the 800 aside and get the 920 out of the box :D

Ordered mine on Thursday mid morning. Expected it to arrive early next week as the email stated 3-5 business days and I live rural. Just got delivered now, no dispatch email from telecom - me happy!
