I wouldn't bother. It's really nothing like the Zune. You can just open Explorer and copy files in/out of your device. Or setup an automatic sync on Windows Media Player if you must...

Back again about my workmates Lumia 820. He was happy to plug it in as an MTP device and drag and drop, or use WMP12, however it's not showing up in WMP12 at all.

It is displayed in device manager as Windows Phone, and the same in explorer - but it's completely empty according to windows. Right click and choosing to import does a brief scan and shows it as empty.

Grabbed the desktop version of the Windows Phone app (previously had the tile interface version). This detects a phone and allows entry of a name and some sync options - but clicking continue just depresses the button and nothing happens.

There was also a sync option for iTunes, but it's invisible to iTunes as well.

I'm at a loss ;)

Something wrong with USB drivers on his PC. Have you tried in another PC?

Good morning! Yeah his win8 x64 ultra book and a couple win7 x32 machines, same result everywhere. Factory reset was no joy.

Could be dodgy usb cable but I we had no spares to play with. On first use in the win7 PC's we had autoplay option to sync with wmp, so it definitely knows it's MTP, but from there doesn't show up in wmp, and empty in explorer again.

Bluetooth worked fine to the ultrabook incidentally.

What do you mean "empty in Explorer?"

You don't see the device, or the device shows up but with no folders, or the folders show up but no files?

The device shows up as portable device with no folders.

Interesting. In my laptop it shows up on Explorer with Music, Photos, Videos and Ringtones folders.

Odd, I'm having no issues running my 820 on Window 8 32bit, Windows 7 x64 and Windows 7 32bit. All running their respective version of the Windows Phone App or using explorer. WMP worked but I had to go to Library then Other Media for the phone to show up.

Then I try to add my phone number to my new Nokia Lumia 920 and get this error:

Surely this could be a bit easier?

The Podcasts setup is pretty crap, access podcasts on phone, this is empty, go to store to find some podcasts, nothing in there. Check online *Subscribing to podcasts on your phone is not available in all locations or languages.

New Windows Phone Desktop App doesn't have this option and Zune doesn't see WP8....
