As I understand it all the WP8 phones will have Nokia Maps, but Nokia Drive, the turn-by-turn navigation app, will only be on the Nokia phones. Nokia need to differentiate somehow...

Yeah I'm confused. Everywhere online always talks about getting a meaty cover for the best protection.

But yeah I do admit that the direct comparison is a bit silly, but at the same time it does outline the largely negligible weight difference in my opinion.

Its just showing that a couple of slim turkey/ham slices will then make Iphone 5 the same weight as Nokia 920. Everyone knows that those ham slices are not even noticeable weight wise.  So yeah I can understand their comparison to show negligible difference in weight

Finch: 2 questions about WP8/WP8 mobiles

1: Is there any WP8 mobiles that have the same/bigger size screen as SGS3? Dont think I could go to anything smaller now

2: Im guessing the answer will be yes to this one... Do you have to have all those tiles (Think thats what they are called?) on your screen? Or can it be like Android where you can customise whatever.

Thanks!

Samsung Ativ S. Same specs and build quality as Galaxy SIII. Warehouse Stationary has a pre-order page up for $799 with a free copy of Windows 8 Pro upgrade.

Nokia Drive is going to be made available to all WP8 OEM's. Whether it's available as free or an paid app for those OEM's customers is another story.

My 4S is 140gm, solid
My 5 is 112gm, light

185gm is fine, prefer that to 100gm plastic fantastic. Weight doesnt always mean build quality, but it goes a long way towards it

Windows Phone 8 sync software has now been made available to download for Windows 7 users. Windows 8 users can download the sync app from Windows store.

Wow. So this replaces Zune? And even though windows Phone 8 is out and about the software is "beta"?

Unbelievable. Microsoft is dropping the ball on this.

No. Zune is still needed for Windows phone 7.x customers. Only Windows phone 8 customers can use this tool.

Microsoft's version of Nokia Suite?

So far as Beta goes, Yep you'd think they'd be past this point before release to the general public.

Yes, I am talking Windows Phone 8. I know Zune remains for Windows Phone 7.

I used the Windows Phone 8 app with Samsung's Ativ S last week. It worked fine and I didn't notice anything about it being beta. Maybe they have more features to add soon?

Just noticed that the NZ Windows Phone website has been updated although when you click on phones there's no new information, just pictures.
