Thought I'd share the great service I just received from Dick Smith. I bought my Lumia 920 there over a month ago. It just bricked itself after I tried to reset the phone. Dick Smith replaced it straight away with another. Worth bearing in mind for anyone about to buy a 920. Looks like a better service policy than Telecom.

Before I go out and buy it... Has anyone tried setting up voip on it (something like 2talk.co.nz or similar). This is one feature I wouldn't be able to live without! :)

The few SIP clients I've seen around seem to not accept voice calls unless running in the foreground due to the notification system. I haven't run on though as I don't need a SIP account...

Need to be able to make voip phone calls, not necessarily to receive them. Hmmm, may need to stick with android for my next phone.

Also note the platform APIs don't allow apps to access the phone speaker, only the external one, so this would be a VoIP call on speakerphone... Not great I say.

Has anyone tried the Nokia Map's Traffic Layer in Auckland? Or is that feature not "released" in NZ all together? I am using Lumia 920 with Nokia Maps (2.9.39.70)

Just got my "fixed" Telecom Lumia 920 from Nokia after my heating issue. Apparently they updated it and it looks like they updated to portico. Can anyone confirm this?

OS Version: 8.0.10211.204
Firmware revision: 1232.5951.1249.1006
Radio Software: 1.0.202075.3

That's a good start, can you tell me which are different? Just the OS or the other two as well?

Yes, that is Portico, I have the same version. The 1006 Telecom NZ version was up on there servers for a while via Navifirm but it doesn't show any more. I pulled mine down (the HK 1004) before it was removed.

My Lumia 920 has been shipping back to me with the Porticio update as well. I really hope this fixes the problem as a smartphone that only lasts 6 hours per charge is of no use to me.

It's really irritating that if this had happened with an iPhone Apple would have just replaced it. With Apple then selling the old unit as a refurb. Nokia seems to be trying the fix it and return approach. It feels like I have gone back several years in customer service.

If the phone doesn't hold its charge now I'll be going back to Telecom and discussing my rights under the consumer's guarantees act.
