Flatmate's Telecom Lumia 800 also didn't get offered the updates, he tried disconnect trick a few times and it worked for a few updates

freitasm: That was almost three years ago... I am not saying that it is rational, just that fear of SNAFU might be holding them back. Corporate health and safety, risk management fear. Meanwhile some of the biggest advocates for the platform are left in the cold...

Woke up this morning and my Australian Telstra sourced HTC Mozart notified me of an available update. I now have 7.8

Joy! I finally have the update after using 'The Force'. Loving the new start screen, and the phone now makes the correct noises when receiving txts/email after 8773 stopped it from doing so... Now to figure out what WinPho 8 handset to get...

Anybody know if the Windows RT "Windows Phone" app (http://apps.microsoft.com/windows/en-US/app/windows-phone/0e0fbaf6-fd99-4046-b494-9ce469ae3009) works with 7.8, or is it still only for WP8?

Just updated a Telecom LG-C900k. Used the cable disconnect trick, updated from 8773 to 8779 to 8783 to 8858. Took about 20 minutes, still seems to be working :)
