sidders80: Hi There

I hope someone can help me. I bought a lumia 800 yesterday. When I had it connected to my wifi yesterday the internet was working fine and the websites were loading ok. this morning when I am not connected to it but connected to 3G some websites refuse to load. but apps like people, FB, etc are working. Its a telecom version i am using on Vodafone.

Any help would be appreciated.

What happens if you put the phone into airplane mode and then out of airplane mode or reboot, does the Internet start working

which carrier?

If you've got signal strength but no data connectivity I'd be ringing VF Support

I notice that reasonably often with my VF data stick their DNS servers (iHUG's?) stop responding

Your symptoms sound similar, you have connectivity but can't connect to new sites as the phone doesn't know their IP addresses

Where are you located? Vodafone and Telecom use different 3G bands in some places and if you are in a Vodafone 900 MHz area then your Nokia Lumia Telecom won't connect by default.

Vodafone in AKL CBD should give you some 3G service. Having said that, 2100 MHz is not the greatest band for 3G, mainly indoors problems, and I know some Vodafone coverage in the CBD is lacking...

I guess then the phone is going back to bond and bond. The reason for XT version was wife's liking for blue colour. however it seems like its a no go. may try the voda version which is a black only. else something else.

stink, they should've told you the 800 is for Vodafone/2degrees or XT but not both

all 4 colours are available (white, black, blue, pink) on both 850/2100 and 900/2100 but unfortunately not in NZ

I went for White 800 myself and just waiting for it to arrive from Aussie

Yep, if they knew you were a Vodafone customer and they sold you a XT lumia, then it should go back as it is unlikely have the phone coverage you need.

They knew about it that i am on vodafone. The sales rep was sure it would be fine but obviously it hasnt so they cant refuse to take it back.

I'm sorry to say, but it is hard to find a harder item type to return than a mobile phone. Once it's opened pretty much no retailer take it back.
