Hi There!

Thought I'd make a thread here.

Guidelines:

Name of Game
Platform (PS3, Ipod, PC etc)
Type (RPG, Action)
Rating (7/10)

I'll start with two:

Kingdoms of Amular
PC
RPG
8.75/10

Very Cool game indeed, really enjoyed it, reasonable story, played it right through to the end.

Prototype 2
PS3
Action/RPG (Elements of levelling)
9.25 / 10

Excellent Sequel, awesome action, great cut scenes, additive challenging and wildly fun gameplay. Impressive graphics..

Deus Ex Human Revolution.
PC
RPG Shooter
9.5/10

I think this game was released in 2011? Anyway I bought it from Mighty Ape for $15 a 3 day sale about 2weeks ago. And am I glad I did. This game is so cool it would make Tony Soprano cry with jealousy. lol. If you haven't played this game get it now! All the bug fixes & updated to latest patch straight from the dvd. Brilliant game.

X3 Reunion
PC
Space sim
9/10

Shouldn't really score it yet as I haven't played it for more than 15 or so hours. This game can take months if not years. I use to play X2 The threat, X3 carries on from X2 with excellent graphics and bigger universe to play in. Oh and a cool mod I am using 'The Starwars & Startrek mod' where you can fly around in all the favorite space crafts of both films. Tie fighter? no problem or how about the Millennium Falcon, yep shes available too, plus about 20 others from both films are available.

well ive just gotten an xbox for the 5th time. i always sell them as i get sick of them, this time though seems to be different, so running through a whole bunch of games ATM.

Name: Assassins Creed
System: X360
Genre: Action/Adventure/Platformer
Rating: 7.5/10
Hours: 15 or so
Comments: good game, great graphics.

Name: Assassins Creed 2
System: X360
Genre: Action/Adventure/Platformer
Rating: 9/10
Hours: 20 or so
Comments: loved this game, unlocked all the gamer points (1000/1000), great story, fun game play. will be picking up the next 2 soon.

Name: Dragon Age Origins
System: X360
Genre: RPG
Rating: 9/10
Hours: 39
Comments: game, really good story, funny at times.

Name: Dragon Age 2
System: X360
Genre: RPG
Rating: 9/10
Hours: 30 so far
Comments: currently playing this now, graphics are really amazing, voice acting is brilliant. story isnt as good as DAO and theres some issues with every dungeon looking the same (and combat was very easy during first 15 hours). but voice acting is amazing and i love the fact your character speaks the text you select (eg you might select "yes" and they will say "yes we can do that", so elaborates oh what you select).

next on my list are
1. Red Dead Redemption
2. Skyrim
3. Beyond Good and Evil HD (bought this on special last week for 400 MSP)
4. Kingdom of Amalur (could go either way on this one... graphics are a bit meh and lip syncing was terrible in demo)
5. AC: BH
6. AC:R

Kingdoms of Amular play next, much better than AC anything in my opinion. It's awesome.

^ Kingdoms of Almular is what I was suppose to buy but I ended up buying Deus Ex Human Revolution instead. Played the demo of KoA, great RPG from what the demo gave me. Will buy it next.

Dragon Age Origins & expansion the awakening.
System: PC
Genre: RPG
10/10
Comments: When I need a break or feel the other game isn't doing it for me I go back to DAO. I'm always doing reruns of DAO, I never get sick of the gameplay & the story, 3rd time through it. This time round playing as a rogue assassin next one will be a pure ranger. Some good DLC to grab with new quests, campaigns & armor & items - respec ring, change race/class potion, make own enchantment gear & new npc's to add to your group. DAO will no doubt be still on my pc 5yrs from now, like Neverwinter nights (6yrs).

Rome: Total War
Mac
3rd person turn-based strategy / 3rd person live battles
9/10
Basically everything about this game is fantastic. Except the voice acting in the pre-battle speeches, how is it so tough to get this right?

NBA Jam: TE
Mac (via SEGA Genesis emulator)
9/10
My nemesis. Have been playing this game for much of my life and it never gets any less infuriating. If you play on Level 5 difficulty and have a good day, you can grind out a 10 point lead going into the final quarter. Then, the CPU will start blatantly cheating, basically making every play a 5 point-play by shooting a three, then pushing you over on your inbound pass and dunking over your prone body. Closer to the buzzer, they start repeatedly swishing underarm full-court threes from their inbound pass, usually to send you to overtime or to win the game. As yet I've managed to avoid breaking anything in frustration, but it's only a matter of time.

Batman:Arkham City 9/10 Wow... just wow!! DX11

Modern Warfare 3 6/10 - Would have scored it higher if it wasn't for the OTT storyline.

Name: Mass Effect 1
System: X360
Genre: Action RPG
Rating: 6/10
Hours: 16 or so
Comments: graphics glitchy, draws are funny, you characters costume will be all blurry then about 5 seconds later it slowly sharpness, lots of slowdowns.  voice acting is brilliant.  gameplay all over the place, some combat insanely difficult some super easy.  story isnt very engaging, very much meh.  no way to skip cutscenes, so during difficult fights, you would have to watch the same thing over and over.  sometimes 1 shot and your dead.  really annoying.

someone at worked lent me this game, they gave up early on in the game, i decided to play to the end.  much prefer Dragon Age to this.

def not the 91/100 score it has on metacritic.  the 3 people i know who have played this all hate it, and refer to it as "ass effect".

fwiw the sequel is a huge improvement.

Think I may have to grab Arkham City for the PC so I can crank the settings to 11 now.
Anyone tried playing it on a 3D screen? Any good?

I've been playing some of the games from the Humble Bundle (http://www.humblebundle.com/ - amazingly bargainous!)
All PC
Limbo:
Platformer
7/10
Parallax scroller/platformer, very cool, some fairly disturbing bits, clever puzzles, good atmosphere. Gets very difficult in some places, fun.

Super Meat Boy:
Platformer
6/10
Pretty basic run+jump, fairly silly but good basic fun.

Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP:
Platformer? (I guess) quasi-RPG
8/10
Quite a bizarre game, mostly puzzle related, 8/16-bit style graphics but with a quite unique look. The sound\music is really good, and it breaks the game into chunks and tells you to go away and come back later which I thought was a neat touch.

Bastion:
7/10
Top-down shooter/beat-em-up
Very colourful, clever narration, gameplay gets a bit repetitive, but it's very much an arcade-type game which should appeal to old-school hack+slash fans.

Psychonauts
9/10
Shooter/RPG
If you haven't played this game, then do yourself a favour, buy this bundle and play it. It's similar to some of the older 3D quest-type games (Mario 64 to a point) but it's surprisingly deep, funny and entertaining.

I wish they had adventure games like Kings Quest and Police Quest (Upto v3) and Hero's Quest, they were my favourites and lots of fun. The problem is that when they reboot then, they make them so overly complicated and massive that they are missing the fun element which is what games should be about.

I LOVED GTA3, but GTA4 and 5 made the cars "realistic" which took away a lot of the fun driving around.

It can be a bit fiddly to get this to work on a modern PC, even with SCUMM. But yes, an amazing game.
