Read on Reddit that the steam sale starts tomorrow.
I am quite a recent convert to steam so not sure what to expect... does New Zealand also get the same sale etc? and are the discounts usually worth having a look at it?

Cheers!

75% plus on the daily deals. And big savings on publisher packs.

One big tip is...Dont buy anything unless it is a daily deal, if it doesnt get a daily deal, buy it on the last day of the sale. Kinda sucks to by something at 50% off then have it at 80% off the next day.

I'd just like to add that today's daily deal is Defense Grid: The Awakening. If you enjoy tower defence games this is the best one I've played and at US$2.50 it's a steal. Also some missions feature GLaDOS from Portal for some added comedic value.

Day 1 and I couldn't resist the shogun 2 pack and trine pack (which is not listed above, so the list is not 100%, I think it may be missing the community choice games EDIT: actually I see a few games on the daily deals that are not listed above....  tempted by Max Payne 3 today)

Some of the packs are extremely good value too. If i didnt already own most of the games in them i'd be ll over them. The sega pack is full of goodness.

Ugh, the Steam store is experiencing heavy load issues which is getting rather frustrating.

Remember, don't purchase anything that isn't a daily deal/flash deal/community choice until the last day of the sale.  Bigger discounts are always just around the corner...

FYI if you noticed the Bethesda collection in that list above, it's not available to us New Zealanders. I can only get it to show in search results on Steam by changing my location to the US store - it let me get to the cart, but I didn't try buying it. $50 for Hunted, FO:NV, Brink and Skyrim (all DLC for all games except Dawnguard) seems to me a pretty good deal.

Recently new to steam after finally getting a computer that can handle modern games... and phew... Ive spent so much money on this sale I'm actually embarrassed to give the amount here. Serious case of buyers remorse.... Steam sales are dangerous!

Bacha: The pricing on steam are they NZ pricing or US?

US dollars with NZ rip-off pricing.

E.g. Darkness II is $12.49 USD for US residents, and $22.49 USD for NZ residents.  If you want to compare before stumping up cash, add ?cc=US to the URL of the Steam page, and look at the pricing drastically drop.
