Well it works for windows licenses and pretty much every other Microsoft product so I am not sure why it suddenly wont work for games.

However, the idea behind a license key is its transferable (and you know who has it - because it would likely be linked to a console ID/Account id). So if it is transferred (played in someone else's machine) and the gamers account is not the one that they game was registered with, then they shouldn't be able to play it.

I've been watching the Scroogled ads and not being able to install software from a CD on only one platform really sounds like a good dose of scroogling to me :)

It would, MS tried to introduce it with the xbox one.  The games media packed a sad about not being able to trade the discs and MS was forced to backtrack.    We are stuck with 'the game is the disc' because of this, and for me it's going to kill my custom to game retailers because I want it all tied to an account, not to a device.

Xbox one / Forza - changing players in game

I'm new to gaming, just got the xbox one and Forza. I have setup 3 users in xbox and we're playing one race at a time. Changing players is a bit cumbersome. Once a player completes a race we return to the home screen and sign out the player and sign in the next player. Is this the way it's meant to work? Or is there a simpler way of doing this. We only have the one controller. Is it possible for xbox to recognise which user has the controller and switch that user as the active player in the game?

I cant answer as I currently lack the additional player so cant test. However, would it not require two controllers, or is there a special 2 player mode in the game?

While I am on my soapbox over removable tea coasters aka CDs, I had the experience of using the Xbox live forums and I can now understand why the CD item is an issue for MS. If there is an award for how not to communicate with users via a forum, I think this needs to be well and truly nominated for it.

Many of the features don't work (one gets a sorry things have moved error), one cant edit or delete a post made in error, there isn't a way to find ones old posts or even search on new ones, the categories are quite odd and most of all, didn't see any MS people in trying to answer peoples questions.

I wonder how hard it would be for them to go and talk to the MSDN forum people and see what they can come up with.

We have just the one controller. Only one player plays at a time. At the end of a race, the controller is passed on to another. Xbox is able to recognise and automatically sign in a user when that user enters to room. Is it possible that it can also recognise which of players signed in have the controller and therefore make that player the active user?

Technically it should be cable of doing so as the new Kinect is able to track finger position. However, I am not sure if it can see inanimate objects very well as infrared wouldn't be that ideal and a dark room would make normal vision difficult.

Realistically the Xbox would need to know who was holding the device (touch sensor on the device or quick voice command to say who - for example "Xbox change player" for example).

It is a shame we cant use our mobile phones as controllers via the Xbox application.

My last CoD was MW2 sorry :(

I'd be keen to play with any other BF4 players though.. the lack of co-operation in the games I'm joining is starting to get me down.

I'm also lovng the One.  Not loving not having voice commands though (and if I switch regions I lose Xbox music (and less importantly video).

Also Youtube app not yet working for NZ, and Battlefield 4 keeps on crashing.

I think its a work in progress, but Im pretty happy with it.

Smart glass app lets you use your phone like a controller
