Does anyone else experience lag while in PVP Warzones/Voidstar?

I enjoy playing the game but don't stand a chance fighting other players with my latency...

Hi, anyone in Auckland who has downloaded the game willing to hook me up with a copy?

I'd rather not download 27G, my copy is at my sisters house in the UK & going to be a while before it gets here.

I was getting kicked from the servers repeatedly yesterday with timouts. I believe TCL were having some international problems yesterday however, was having issues with quite a few international sites.

Generally speaking tho it's usually not too bad but then I'm not what some would call 'hardcore'. I have died several times in PvE due to lag, just end up standing there and when it catches up you're dead so if any lag is unacceptable, you may want to wait for Oceanic servers. Certainly doesn't ruin my day however.

Have to say the companions is what WoW failed to do right. I love my companions lol Tho still can't make up my mind what to stick with I have a lvl 19 Bounty hunter, lvl 12 Commando, lvl 27 Sith Juggernaut, lvl 11 Jedi Consular and lvl 16 Smuggler scoundrel. Cause its only 50 really no problem getting every class to 50. Oh and having our very own space ship just creams every mmo on the planet.

It's pretty sweet but there isn't much to do for a level 50 right now.

I am almost fully raid geared so Hardmodes are just for cash now. Not got a static raid group so regular raids are rare and no chance of Nightmare raids yet. Then there is the really really crappy PVP where I get to play bloody Huttball 20 times in a row and win only once or twice.

I love the game and will keep subbed while I wait for stuff to do or people to play with in PVP to hit 50. The companions need more work, some Sith Inquis ones are bugged so we can't start their loyalty quests etc.

I wish the JK companions were a little more assertive in combat. I couldn't finish the class quests without help :(

At the end of the day... class quests are the measure of the game for me. I suck at PVP.

Bring on the Oceanic servers!

Some of the end game class quests are just bonkers.

The Sith Inquisitor ones have the following mechanics;

  • Healing
  • CC
  • High Damage Tick AoE
  • Interrupt
So as a healer spec it was hell. I ended up outsourcing my DPS to a guildy because it was just too damn hard, basically a healing stalemate. Boss couldn't kill me, I couldn't kill her

As long as they dont go down the same path as Age of Conan mmo people left the game once they hit peak level as there was nothing to do. They have fixed it now though but in the first year of its release it kinda died I was told.  So SWOTOR needs to bring out new raids for you 50's before the boredom sets in.  Great mmo made me delete WoW, AOC and Warhammer online off my hdd.  SWOTOR is really one massive Kotor single player with multiplayer.

Yea, SWTOR have a new planet planned, and they have other end game raids planned as well.
So I think they are going to release regular end game content throughout the year to make it worth while.

I would also assume the PvP games will get tweaked a bit throughout the year also.  But time will only tell.

I just hope they're spending as much time bug fixing as bringing in new stuff.

Over the weekend I was stuck in my ship for 38 hours, supposedly in a conversation. I couldn't move, couldn't use quick travel or fleet pass, couldn't /stuck or reset my UI. Couldn't do anything at all.

I'd put all this in a support ticket but they insist on closing the ticket without checking on resolution so I had to create a new ticket each time I logged on to find I was still stuck. Three times I got exactly the same copy\paste reply saying I should try all the things I'd already said I'd tried...

On the fourth attempt I managed to get a GM online who teleported me out of my ship telling me it was a known issue. Problem solved.

Recently, in space missions, enemy ships become indestructable for a time. Normal ships that explode with one missile just laugh it off, can't touch them. Sometimes this goes on for half a mission or more, making it a complete waste of time, other times it comes right within 5-10 seconds.

Last night, Risha (my companion) tells me by way of icon on her stats bar she wants to speak with me on the ship (as opposed to just 'in private'). So I drop what I'm doing and go all the way back to my ship where I find she actually has nothing to say at all. This is a known issue too apparently.

I'm also getting booted a lot more due to dropped connections. I know NZ is upside down on the other side of the globe but I wasn't having any connection issues during the crazy busy first couple of weeks or so of launch. All these problems have started since the 1.1 patch.

All in all, it's taking a bit of the shine off for me at present.

Well I guess you could say the game has only been out for just over a month now.
I work for a software company, and we have been releasing 2 updates each year for the past 12 years.
Part of my job is trying to find bugs before release.  But we still find some after beta, and actual release date each time.

I could only put a guess at the immense amount of code and areas to check for SWTOR.  Which is why in a game as large as this the developers and GMs rely heavily on the players to help them find most bugs.  Shame as not everyone would experience the same level of 'bugginess' as others.  But its just a reality.

Hopefully after the first 4 months, most of the more serious bugs will be sorted though.  And some of them will be related to lag as well.

It's interesting to read all the bad threads about the game.

I know I am lucky, but I have had ZERO issues with the game. Been DC'ed once and that was in the Beta. I used to have an issue where I would have to ctrl-u my UI to see all the guildies and sometimes crewskills missions - but that seems to be fixed as of two patches ago.

I just don't seem to get any bugs?

(and yes I am level 50)

I have had almost no bug issues fortunately. Though the PVP exploits drive me nuts, super speed in huttball, door glitch in Voidstar, jumping the force shield on attacker gate and planting bomb before the Voidstar round begins....

Raids have quite a few bugs in them but since they hardly get tested pre-launch that's acceptable. Would be nice if they fixed crafting so it could make items better than the dailys so profitability goes up, right now my crafting profits fund more crafts to sell and armor repair, that's it.

Swiftsure has way to many nasty Australian kids someone tell their mums! Though its the most populated server always heavy and 90 or more in the areas at a time so I am leveling on there as well always groups to join so its good apart from to many angry kids spamming chat. Like someone said in chat last night "Where the hell are the kiwis" Only to be told he was retarded and should GTFO...
