I've recently migrated to open VFX and have been trying to get my phones back online.  It all seems fairly straight forward except that I'm getting a 404 error.  This from my modem log...

"Nov 19 15:23:27 daemon info VOIP: Got 404 Not found on SIP register to service AuthUser@pan.wxnz.net, giving up

Nov 19 15:23:27 daemon info VOIP: Got 404 Not found on SIP register to service

AuthUser@pan.wxnz.net, giving up"

Of course the AuthUser is the AuthUser I received in the welcome email.

My details are...
Modem/Router:   Billion BiPAC 7800VDPX
Sip Provider

Sip Account

I've been using regular VOIP with xnet for a long time (maybe 5 years) and I noticed that my old router/modem (the one I've just replaced) had as.wxcnz.net as the proxy.  I've tried this too but still couldn't get the phone working.  Is this something I need to post an official fault ticket for and if so does any one know where/how I should do that?

Remove the register and obp settings and just try the SIP Proxy only as pan.wxnz.net

OK looks like I should have the UserID the user name field. Bu doing this I am now getting a Failed to authenticate on REGISTER. So Im a little confused... If I put the 'UserID' in the 'Username' filed where do I put the the 'AuthUser'?

okay here will be a problem, this device looks like it does not support a separate user and auth id and we use separate auth and user for better security so this device will not be comparable with Our service , I really don't know why some vendors do not use standard enhanced security with their products.

thanks for the quick reply Mavrik. I've tried that but to no avail. I think this may just be a case of me getting the authentication details in the right place. Just not sure what that is at the moment

If the hardware doesn't support SIP AuthID it's not going to work, no matter what you enter.
