Ditching my cellphone for the new galaxy camera (3g but no traditional phone or txt support) I decided i'd just divert all the calls from my mobile number (which people use to contact me) to our land line at home that runs the standard pap2 vfx and then divert those to perhaps a skype number or some sort of android supported voip service.
sounds simple enough in theory, has anyone tried this ? does it work? What terminology is used to describe what I'm suggesting.
I would like the number the land line diverts to to be a local number so it does not cost me  an arm or a leg.

Dirty messy kludge. Why not just ditch the voice line and port the number to a service that works on your device?

To be honest I'd hate to image the state of the voice quality with such a horrible hack, and the fact it's going to become a horrible expensive option paying for call forward from your mobile if you get lots of calls.

You could just get another VFX line and use that on the phone, but if it's going to be a permanent divert then surely the PAP2 is obsolete? Why not just move your VFX account to Open VFX and then use it on your phone? You'll then only be paying for the divert from your mobile.

You also need to be aware VoIP over 3G is a best effort service. It may work, it may not work.
