Topic # 85878 27-Jun-2011 17:45 Send private message

My SRP527 seems to reboot every 1-2 days.  I don't think I've ever seen the up time more then 2 days.

As always it seems to reboot at the most annoying times.

Is this normal? Is there anything in the provisioning that would cause this?

The router is wall mounted in a cupboard. It shouldn't be getting hot at this time of year.

I assume it used to be fine and lately reboots. Replace the power supply.

Hi Maverick,

Currently at 1 Day 11hrs. Last Occured at 21:00 on the 26th. Seems funny that it rebooted right on 21:00.

I'll keep track of times from now on, I haven't been writing them down. I'll PM my details if you want to have a quick look from your end.

Niel, this router is only about 4 weeks old.

Thanks for that, quite possibly it is the provisioning that is doing this by the looks of it and the devices phones home every 48 hours to check for updates for firmware and configs

Thanks Maverick.

That eases my mind a little.  Have you made any changes? I'll keep you updated over the next week.

Thanks,

The phone demarc point just happens to be in the top of that cupboard.  This was quite convenient so I put in a PDL double phone jack.

Since I'm on Fusion and have no voice line I've run a line from the demarc straight into this phone jack for the adsl line, no filters required.

I've only got one other phone jack in the house (with 3 handset cordless) I've connected this jack to the other other in the cupboard. I've taken the VOIP output from the router and plugged it in here.

Infant failure?  It happens.  Reboot suggests it is hardware, unless firmware updating fails or something like that and requires a reboot.  Disconnects on the other hand would have suggested provisioning or line issues.

Is it worth checking the error log just before the 48 hours is up (presumably the log is wiped when it restarts)?

I had the log open at the same time.

The only item logging is an NTP check which happens hourly.  There was nothing that I caught before the reboot.
