Wow!!! These other companies must be really taking their life in their hands and gambling with everything they have if they are releasing new plans to market; I mean wxc have been investing how much time so far into the design of their new offering and are still needing more time.....

:|

Or is it that in the time that wxc are taking everyone else is releasing new plans with more features/better cost/etc that they are stuck in a continual loop of redesign.....or is it just that they don't have any plans?

:|

Speculation is rife - but alas it is all we have after how long?

It's like someone read my mind I was just thinking maybe I should post here to bring this back up.

I wouldn't go as far as saying Xnet / WXC has failed me but it certainly would be nice if we could get a update on the (now two) issues that have been raised that people are more than very patiently waiting for answers on. Those being when are new prices and or plans coming and what about Quickflix is this going to be Zero rated or not.

I too like many others are not overly impressed with the whole it's happening soon approach it was January when the bills started saying a few weeks now and here it is mid April.

Is there any chance that anyone from WXC can at least post a comment I don't care if it's a still no dates/decision one but at least it's better than feeling ignored. Plus like posted above we now have new plans from most other major ISP's either in place or announced.

Or perhaps they don't have all the wholesale costs available. Think of Orcon launching their Genius plan last year, then the Com Com released new pricing that was more expensive.
I think you will find a rise in broadband costs in future, and it is just a "grab market share" game at the moment.
Anyway, that's just my personal speculation, but it's not totally unfounded.

Chorus has spent $1.4 billion on making their ADSL broadband network faster. Why not spend a couple of hundred to make sure you are getting the most out of your connection?
Geekzone special price: $150* for master splitter install, normally $200+ through your ISP. Auckland and Waikato areas.
*Travel charges may apply. Additional costs may apply for complex installs.
I install - Naked DSL, DSL Master Splitters, VoIP, RBI Rural Broadband. Also a dealer for WorldxChange.

I'm pretty sure we will not see new plans. Or we will see, but price will be higher.

Don't worry.  Last Friday was Good Friday, this Friday is Bad Friday.  Speaking of which and OT, sorry, Friday the 13th somehow has always been my lucky day and has spread to my wife.  She features in today's NZ Herald, won the prize in the Sideswipe 10th birthday competition.

I'm keen to see the new offerings so we can consider Netflix.  Oh, not supposed to say that, let's call it Quickflix.  That will take our data usage up slightly over the current ~4GB per month...

That's the one with the prize of a trip to Aus? Technically, given the fact that the prize is a trip to Aus and she will probably be taking you, it could still be your good luck and not hers (you getting a trip to Aus through her)....

Mandatory on topic discussion....

Will the fibre plans be updated at the same time or just the adsl ones?

Bring back free static ip's :)  Even if they arent truly static just "mostly" (ie 99% of the time powering off the adsl router for a day or so, doesn't mean you'll loose the ip).

Then I can migrate quite a few staff to Xnet for their home connections.

Don't let me loose my free static IP with switching to a new plan ;-).

Great to hear the fibre plans are getting updated, will make a few people very happy. Keen to see what the fibre plans will be like. Should reflect what it will cost to connect to fibre when we get it (apparently this year, but who knows).

Yes, we won 4 flight tickets to AU, and without me (or her) neither of us would have this great kid (and the other one) to write about so it is "our" good fortune. Got family in AU, the in-laws, so not sure the tickets are a blessing... Or maybe we can send (just) the kids twice!
