Over the last few days inbound and outbound calls via VFX have been "randomly" disconnecting after about 20 seconds. When I say "randomly" I mean I haven't figured out any pattern yet. Is anyone else having similar problems? If not then I will continue looking for a local fault.

PAP2T, TCL cable.

If this is occurring at about 20 seconds it sounds like the weare not seeing a ack to the 200 ok connect message, this will be a local issue with your router, make sure you have a static IP set up port forwarding , see how you go wit that, you can pm your details and I will take a look at the calls but my I will take an educated guess that this is the issue.

Thanks for the suggestions. I have just noticed that the PAP2T is renewing its (fixed) address with DHCP every 5 minutes (guess who has been fiddling with the DHCP server), which maybe causes it to drop the connection. I will check the logs for missing SIP acks also.

It appears my PAP2T is stuffed, so time for an upgrade. There was a close lightning strike a week or two back, come to think of it, which maybe did some damage. Thanks to Phil & Steve for your help sorting this out.

The Cisco SRP521 looks a likely option to replace my stuffed PAP2T and generally upgrade the network connection. How do they rate, and would anyone care to recommend a better option?

They are very good units. Just be aware there is a big difference in pricing between various retailers for them.

First try a new power supply, unless you are looking for an excuse to upgrade. The PAP2T is not directly connected to the phone line, so it is unlikely to get damaged that way from a lightning strike. But the power supply is 24/7 on mains and is susceptible to mains surges.

I am having this same issue!

Just randomly started happening out of the blue.

Could be a coincidence or maybe not.

Ill give XNet a ring soon and see what they can see.
