VOIP xnet using D-Link DVA-G3670b
I have a problem dialing out when I am using or even just have open LogmeIn rescue console. What happens is I dial a number and it will take a long time to actually dial up to 45 seconds and then dials ok. The other problem is that I can be using the logmein console and the phone at the same time when I hang up from that customer and call another client not only do I have the delay but the line often is very poor. If I get the client to call back the line is usually ok even with the LogMein console open. Any thoughts on this as my understanding is that using a VOIp modem should give dedicated preference to the phone line. I also have an issue on some calls where the full duplex dosnt seem to work properly eg If I talk at the same time as the client is talking the system cuts the client of a bit like a microphone in a radio station when music is playing and the dj talks it then supressors the music or cuts the music out. This only seems to be one way as the client dose not have the same isuue.

Any thoughts ?

All of these issues would probably be solved by correct cionfiguration of the device - things such as dialplan and QoS.

If you don't have any idea how to configure these correctly my suggestion would be to buy an approved product and move to VFX which will give you a fully configured device that will work 100% straight out of the box.

Why is it when there is and issue people assume that the person concerned does not know how to configure things. For you information the same issues were arrising from VFX which I was on and we changed thinking it was a faulty modem. Xnet had no awnsers to the isues and agreed it looked like a problem with the modem. These sort of issues can take some time to resolve and comments like yours are of no use at all.

I have actually got 2 Linksys Voip modems as well as the D-Link.
Wag 54GP2v2 and SPA2102. It took some time to relise what was happening and isolate it down to a particular program causing the dialing delay. As for the other issues  the quality of service has been a problem for some time. We have tried all sorts of settings. It has really got to the stage of abandoning VOIP as the system is to unreliable outside of  basic phone line use. I think 3 modems later that these issues are not faulty modems. They are also not consistant they happen intermittently. I need a reliable system for my business and have put a lot of time and energy into sorting the issues out and I must say Xnet have been very helpfull.
If any one has helpfull info it would be appreciated.

wekalegs: Why is it when there is and issue people assume that the person concerned does not know how to configure things.

Because VOIP can be extremely hard to get right, and in the majority of cases it is a configuration error. Given that it's the most common problem, it's probably reasonable that it's the first thing suggested - better to suggest the most common solution, rather than the least?

If you had provided this information at the start, then you probably wouldn't have got the suggestion that it was a config error.

Perhaps if you can post the exact setup you have had at each stage of the troubleshooting process, what config you have been using, and what symptoms you are seeing, then people may be able to help you. As you know, VOIP can be complex, so people need more than just the basic info to help you troubleshoot.

Yes as a computer technician I can agree with you. I hope you can appreciate to that I have been through this so many times with xnet techs. I just wanted to see if any one else had exsperienced any of the issues I had mentioned rather than going throught the whole shooting box as this is complex and may well be several different issues. I have contacted logMeIn and are assured they have not exsperienced the issue with there remote recue platform and they also use VOIP with this sioftware however they are communicating with there Techs to see if ther are any reports of similar behavior. As to the delay issue I have now put a diffrent phone set on that port to see if it is possible the phone set is causing the echo and or the duplex issue. Because it dose not happen all the time it makes it very hard to isolate the problem or take a unit out of the Equation. I really would like to sort the problem out and not have to go back to standard phone lines as the VOIP features are great for me. D-Link config. Can you have a look and see if you can offer any help with this. Thanks and appreciate you time.
