Hi

I have been with Xnet for a few years now.. and recommended Xnet to a family friend

He switched over, brought a SRP527.. which took a little to setup..
But he is experiencing the modem disconnecting.. and not rebooting.. so he has to manually turn off & on..

I have checked settings all looks fine.. what else can I do to help him?

Dean

IME these are pretty solid - I assume it's the 10.01.23 firmware?

What are the ADSL stats like from the modem? What is the state of the house wiring like and does it have a master filter installed? What is their location in relation to the nearest cabinet or exchange?

Hi Dean,

Can i ask if the front panel is black or blue ?, if it's black it will be a new hardware, if its blue we will need to check out his connection, phone the help desk guys and they can take a look and see what they are seeing from our end.

There is a new version of hardware that Cisco has just released we found out last week, this new hardware has a new firmware train, the new hardware has been upgraded to allow IPV6 support in the near future, the old hardware will not support IPv6.

Also just a quick question the router is set to stay connected and not connect on demand ?

If all the usual checks fail, replace the power adaptor. Anything from 10V to 15V will do, as long as it is a switch mode (light weight, not old heavy bricks) and the connector polarity is the same.

The stats are good 13789 down and 977 up

We don't have master filter. But it's only thing plugged in

Wiring is ok. 1970s house. Not too far from cabinet

No it's not the new firmware, most likely the older firmware for the old model has been deployed to this device and not the newer one, the older one apparently should work according to Cisco but we found last week that it doesn't do too well. I will take a look.

Actually it is on the correct firmware, there goes my theory :), looking at the connection appears to be reasonable stable at present, do you want to confirm it's working okay at present ?

In the past week I saw 1 resync on my SRP527W ("old" model). Did not think much of it, was 6 AM and I should have been on my way to work anyway. About 10 minutes ago (around 16:10) it happened again while I was surfing. Went to the modem and saw it was not a reboot but just did a re-sync. The connection was up for less than 1 minute when it lost sync again and re-synced. Line stats are fine as it has been for years. Brand new house wiring, we built a new house and then removed the old. In the process the overhead lines went underground, but still the same line to the pole. We moved in/over 3 months ago and had no issues with lots of surfing.

Phil, anything you can do or should I just let the help desk know? Knowing the installation I'd suspect a port reset/swap might be needed. The incoming line goes straight to the router in a cupboard, nowhere else. The sparky thought I'm crazy.
