Western Digital has released the Red HDD for NAS.

Variable speed drive, but still supports RAID.

Designed for home and small business and come in 1TB, 2TB and 3TB.

Hmm, interesting. Might save some grief with windows always kicking the green ones out of a mirror and telling me its at risk every second week or so.

Interesting, thanks. I have been reading up on NAS options recently, as I will be putting one as part of my network overhaul in a few months. Hopefully, pricing will be back to its pre-flooding trajectory by then.

System Temperature: 43°C/109°F
HDD 1 Temperature: 44°C/111°F


Given a WD Red drive operates at around 31C, my WD Black drive could be consider to be running a bit on the warm side at 44C.
