Topic # 108348 28-Aug-2012 22:39 Send private message

I've just reverted to Telecom DNS servers from OpenDNS for various reasons.

I'm using the designated addresses 202.27.158.40 and 202.27.156.72 rather than letting my ISP (Telecom) automatically dish out the DNS IP. But, given that I have a dynamic not static IP address, I'm wondering whether I need an IP address updater a la OpenDNS, or whether with Telecom as my ISP and using their designated DNS servers, an IP address updater is unnecessary?

Is anyone able to advise .... and if I do need an updater, where would I obtain it (for Mac OSX)?

Many thanks

The IP updater is for updating your own domain name for server/s hosted on your own connection? in that case pointing a domain at your dynamic IP will require some sort of updater like dynDNS or whatever. If you don't host any servers that have to be visible on internet then no need, just point DNS at working public dns servers.
