Topic # 110940 19-Oct-2012 21:14 Send private message

Firstly, I'm using the THOMSON TG585v7 router.

Hello, I port fowarded ports to use Tunngle, and it worked for me. Then when my brother installed it, I made a new port thing with same ports, and assigned it to my brother's PC. But on Tunngle, it said it didn't work for him. And it didn't, because he can't see most people. This is the first time I have port fowarded the SAME ports to two devices. So I assigned the ports on me, and then unassigned it on my brother, then assigned on my brother only, and it worked for him. Then I assigned it to me, and it didn't work.
How can I assign it to two devices to that it'll actually work?

Thanks.

A port can only be forwarded to one device.
See if your application or game supports uPNP. This is where the application or game will ask the modem to forward a port to the device running the application or game for the duration of which it is being run.
At the end of the session, the application or game will release the port so it can be assigned to another computer or device.

If you want to run the application on two devices at once, they must use two different ports. Most games or applications will allow you to select a different port in the program's advanced options menu.

If you are using an Xbox or PS2, you usually cannot manually force the program to use a specific port. Likewise with some computer applications or games.

Yea as above. The whole thing with port forwarding is making stuff go to specific devices behind NAT. I would see if you can change the port it runs on and then you can forward one port to one device and the second port to another.

First I've heard of Tunngle, but as mentioned by Ray above it looks like one of you can change to a different port:

Tunngle support:

Tunngle Port
Tunngle by default uses UDP port 11155. You can change port from Tunngle->System->Options. Please verify that the Port Forward checkbox is ticked if you intend to forward.

Or or it does support UPnP:

Automatic UPnP Port ForwardTunngle provides a simple way to configure your Port Forward automatically. If you are not familiar with how routers work or if you like it simple, your best option is to go to Tunngle->System->Optionsand check Upnp. Tunngle will then attempt to configure your port forward automatically on the next restart. If you get the UPnP error it means that your current system configuration does not support UPnP as a Port forwarding method. In this case go back to Tunngle->System->Options and uncheck UPnP. In case you are not able to login remember that you can start Tunngle in Off-line Mode.

Please note that Tunngle UPnP depends on the following Windows Services:
  • SSDP Discovery
  • UPnP Device Host
