I have a Beklin bluetooth adapter and I have just updated the drivers from 1.2.2.16 to 1.3.x.x and now my bluetooth communication with my iPaq 3970 doesn't work. I get a system error in the bluetooth manager when I try and retrieve the services. Do I need to upgrade bluetooth drivers on the ipaq and if so how?

There's a known problem with the Bluetooth stack used on the iPAQ H3870 and H3970. It'll only recognise 7 services, and crash after this.

The new widcomm stack offers more than 7 services. Simply right click the Bluetooth icon in the System tray in your desktop/laptop, go to Advanced Configuration and disable the services you'll not use.

I disabled 5 of the 9 services listed in the Bluetooth Places, removed and then re-searched for the iPaq and created a pairing. No services where found and the error continued. Any ideas?

Application Bluetooth Manager.exe has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down. If the problem persists, contact the program vendor.

Program: Bluetooth Manager.exe
Exception: 0x80000002
Address: 009deedc

I can connection from the iPaq 3970 to version 1.3.2.7 of the Belkin bluetooth adapter on my Windows 2000 machine but not on Windows XP machine. This is either due to difference between windows 2000 and XP or because the the w2k machine has no modem and so fax and dailup networking is disabled. I have disable fax and dail up networking on the win xp machine but when I retrieve services from it using the win2k machine fax and dail up networking still appear as available services.

How can I disable these services so they can not be discovered.
