Hmm I can't even get connected using their client and OpenVPN, just denies me straight away. Do I need open ports on my router?

Yep I've been through heaps of them, and the forums, and the faqs.  It's just not behaving as it should.  Doesn't work with the actual OpenVPN client either if I import the server certificates.

If you are using a 64bit OS you may require extra drivers, I do not have the details at the moment, as I am at work. Have a look for a TAP device driver, and install it. It should start working once its completed.
Unfortunately both my emails and astrill website are blocked, so I cannot give you the url I found with the solution.

However, having installed the Astrill software on another x64 Windows 7 pc, I did not require the additional TAP drivers.

I have a 64bit OS and never had to install any additional drivers either. Install the software that was supplied by Astrill.

Found this.

I did install the drivers, on two seperate PC's, and only one had the issue. When I contacted astril they did imply some people have issues, and install an additional driver themselves via a remote desktop connection.

EDIT - I did see that thread, but the solution at the bottom did not work for me.

If anyone has tried, does their option that uses the VPN only for 'international' sites work well in NZ?  Sounds ideal in theory for my uses and they claim to maintain IP ranges for all countries, but I'm always a bit dodgy on NZ support.

It appears to be working fine for me... however, the HD support for BBC iplayer i've found is not always perfect eg buffering making it unviewable. But other times I've had no problems. SD Ive never had a problem.

Anybody has problem with connecting to Los Angeles 1 server? i cannot connect to the server any more. But the tech support told the server is fine. Maybe slingshot is forbidding the ip.

Also on Slingshot and I'm finding LA1 increasingly more difficult to connect to as opposed to impossible to connect to.  But there are plenty more servers to choose from that aren't having this problem.

I ended up getting it working, they had messed up my account on their end so they recreated it for me now it's good as gold.

Is there any reason why you have to use the US servers with * for torrents?

I did one on the aussie server last night as I forgot to change it. But it worked fine and was about twice the speed I get from US servers.

Nothing specifically stopping you using any server for anything, but my guess is that the back end of the * servers has port/connection optimisation for torrent applications.
