Does anyone know whether it's possible to get something like this (240V => 110V step down transformer, 200W) in NZ, for a comparable price (29 AUD = approx 40 NZD)?

To be honest I have no idea how they make them that cheap. There are these but they are pricey http://www.tsltransformers.co.nz/isseries.shtml

Are you sure you need one? Most products can be modified as the transformer usually has 2 primary windings either in series or parallel to select 240V or 120V. Also be aware that just changing the voltage is not the whole story, the frequency also means transformer efficiency is different so the low voltage inside the product will be different. And some old products use the mains as reference clock (e.g. clock radios).

When you go up in power rating it is often cheaper to source a variac instead of a step-down transformer.

What power rating do you need?
