So I'll start with a small disclaimer :)

Not sure if this post should sit in 'off topic', but it is electronics related, hence posting here...

The digital speedo on my bike (Hyosung 250) motorbike has kicked the bucket.

One fine day, idling in the garage, warming up, nek minnit, dead.
Doesnt appear to be a fuse etc...

I've taken into Robinsons instruments, but they suggested it might be too hard to find parts etc.

The LCD appears to have metal? wires in it, that have broken? (No idea how this works...)

Any fellow GZ'ers experienced similar, or know how to fix?

This is what a normal one looks like..

The display is a VFD. Is the glass broken in which case its not repairable. Could also be a poor solder joint on the pcb or a failed component in the display drive circuit. I assume Robinsons have the ability to fault find at component level. Check for tiny circuit board fuses.

VFD has wires inside which can break. Our European oven display broke after 8 months.

If it's a VFD, then it could be not getting power to the wires in it.

ToddFun did a repair of a VFD, edumacational...

Yep, wires were busted.

Ended up buying a replacement off ebay for ~300...ouch!
